Does anybody know the corresponding roster move? (It was my understanding that a team can't DFA a guy unless you give his 40-man roster spot to somebody else - immediately.) Maybe he was placed on outright waivers?

According to Baggs, he was DFA'd. It may have been a quick explain action instead of the truth...

Nope, Trevor Wilson in 1992 and they believe Orel Hershiser in 1998 (ELias still pending)

An amazing, awesome thing to do, makes the game fun
