That's funny.
Not as funny as the Chinese miniature chainsaw my wife bought me to "cut" big branchs. Tried to cut a 1" maple branch and snapped the chain in about eleven seconds. Bought a Ryobi battery cutter and it refuses not to cut anything and never seems to need a recharge during my cutting sprees. Cleared about sixty square feet of palm branches and it never failed at all.

Well you got lucky with the Ryobi is all I can say. For the most part they are garbage.

They are not as bad as they used to be.
Agreed especially for home use. But if you're working in the industry you want the big 3, Porter Cable, Milwaukee or Bosch and to a lesser extent Dewalt.

Most Ryobi tools have been improved in the last few years.
Not a Husqvarna but the non-professional Husqvarnas are Husqvarnas noe either - they are made in Red Max factories.
If you spend less than 4-5 hundred on a saw, they are all fairly cheaply made.

I have Porter Cable at home. They are very good quality and I'm a retired contractor. I also have some Makita tools. They are amazing quality. I have a small angle grinder and circular saw. Would not trade either of those 2 for any other brand.
Dewalt was bought out and is not what it used to be.
Porter Cable is now branded as Craftsman!

John Deere bought out almost all these companies years ago and improved / modernized their factories.
They improved profit margins by less costly production and cheapening the tools.
They then have spun off these other brands.
John Deere got as big as they are by buying other companies (not just tools), not from selling tractors.
They are now big enough that there is a class action lawsuit brewing. Don't buy any of their stock!

I have DeWalt, Ryobi and Black &Decker. I retired in 2013 so no need for work tools. I buy what I need for jobs at home.

Tonight I get to cover $7500 in plants and bushes with blankets and shower curtains so I don't lose them to Mr. Frost.

Don't forget to uncover them in the morning after it starts to warm up!

Problem is that this cold snap will be Friday night, Saturday and Sunday into Monday morning.

Up north, everything we planted was tough enough to survive -40 and fifteen feet of snow. Pussy flora down here dies at +25.

I have Harbor Freight. As you all know I am in the middle of a massive remodel, purchased a reciprocating saw for $19.99, a screw gun for $9.99 a rotary tool for $20.00 all still working like a champ and I have used the hell out of them. Now for Joe Q Homeowner that may need tools for one or two projects Harbor Freight in your friend. If you are in the industry not likely your best option,

Yes, I have been through this before.
If you don't uncover during the warm of the day, the plant foliage will ripen - lose their dormancy. The next cold they will not have as much protection.

We hit 5 degrees in North Carolina one year - with a lot of broadleaf evergreens. Most broadleaf evergreens die at 14 degrees. Some like you say at 25 degrees. One year we had a light freeze - in April, when plants were out of dormancy. We lost far more plants at 28 degrees in April than at 5 degrees in December. Florida is sub-tropical or even tropical. Many plants never go into dormancy.
Southern Texas rarely gets cold and you can plant Palms and other tropical plants there - every 10 years the artic cold is driven south there and wipes them all out.
Covering and uncovering is a pain in the ass - do it or suffer the consequences.
Any plants in the shade will not need to be uncovered.

Yep, Ryobi have gone brushless and have upped their battery power, so more competitive than before.

I'm sick to my stomach today because of how stupid I feel.

I've been playing around the stock market with one of my IRAs.

Two weeks ago, I had $70,000 sitting in my cash investment account. I was looking around the penny stocks and found one.
IMH Impact Mortgage Holdings. Price per share = $.005. I bought 100,000 shares = $500

Last week it moved up to $.0455 a share and then started to drop. I sold my 100,000 shares at $.0415 = $4,150. I felt like a smart guy making $3600 on a penny stock.

But wait one minute.

Why didn't I buy 14,000,000 share with the entire $70,000? If I'd sold 14,000,000 shares at $.0415 I would have made $501,000. That was pretty stupid not taking that chance.

Until Today:

IMH today has lost .0155 a share and has fallen to
$.1645 a share.

If I had invested the $70,000 and purchased 14,000,000 shares two weeks ago, I could sell them today for:

$2,303,000.

Want to talk about feeling stupid????
