"it's a little concerning that the Patriots played so poorly in the first half against the Colts when they had an extra week to prepare physically and mentally for that important matchup."

Patriots only practiced 2 days for this game!
I never like the Pats coming off the bye week. They seem to always come out flat.

He doesn't play QB or RB but he is absolutely the best Special Teams player in the history of the NFL. That should count for something. I believe he belongs. Not sure if he will but I'd vote for him.

maybe if this guy gets in he will:suds:

Steve Tasker played in seven Pro Bowls (1987 and 1990–1995) and became the only special teamer ever to be named the game's MVP in 1993. Many, including former teammate and Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, consider him to be the greatest special teams player of all-time and believe that he should be in the Hall of Fame.
. He has several times been a nominee for the Hall, making the semi-finalist list eight times
  • 204 special teams tackles
  • 7 Blocked Punts
  • 7-time Pro Bowl selection
  • Only special Teams player ever elected Pro Bowl MVP

Tasker's biggest problem was that while he played, many of the media that voted at the time, didn't consider, any Special Teams players to be worthy of the Hall. Punters, Kickers and ST Specialists were not considered to be "players". Some of you may not be able to remember that long ago, but I started watching pro football in 1957 when only CBS carried a game. That game was the NY Giants and only because the Giants played in New York and every major broadcaster was in NYC. The 1958 OT NFL Championship game was the straw that broke the camel's back and NBC tried to jump in and got pushed aside. Then along came the AFL in 1960 and NBC got all rights to it and broadcast two games every Sunday. The rest as they say is history.

Those old timers still prevailed into the early 2000''s.

For you really young guys, television shut off at 11:30 PM until 1982 when cable TV started broadcasting movies until 2:00 am. They went to 24/7 in 1984. Just about the same time that LISA was released to the public by Apple for the incredible price of $10,000. Not long after the internet was born and instant news started to become an issue for TV. Newspapers still dominated the football world because games were only played on Saturday and the pros on Sunday.

The genre' is changing and computer programs and instantaneous stats have placed newspaper reporters at the back of the bus and soon they will be a part of history joining George Halas, Vine Lombardi and Billy Sullivan in the dusty closet of the game.

Tasker and Slater should both be first ballot HOF players. For Tasker it's too late. If Slater retires, he'll be the first in 2026.

On the contrary...maybe Slater will pave the way for Tasker.

Slater being a hall of famer is probably homer sentiment. He's just not on the field enough and not scoring points. Let's see if Hester gets in then we can resume the discussion.

Of course it is homerism.

Hester?
Devin Hester? Excuse me but how many pro bowls does he have? 3? 4?

DH had 9 productive years (at the top or near the top), that ain't bad for a guy who's job is to be a kamikaze. I do get your point on Slater...

Stupid question asked a very inappropriate time.

The best answer would have been, "I'll never give another press conference and answer asshole questions. Next?"

She doesn't deserve that. She started with "aside from football" and made it clear hers was a human interest perspective. The NFL makes a ton of moneys from "pink hatters" so they deserve some respect in return... BB got that...

She may have prefaced the question but it's still not the time or place. You doing a human interest piece schedule it through team media management offices.

I don't think that's how it works. If you have a media pass you have a media pass.

Okay if you have a media pass to a football game you should act like you know you are at a football game. If you go the Purdue Family Summer BBQ pretty sure you can expect chicken and not steak?
