Wel, maybe they got 4 of them right? $28 million per????LOL

According Schefter, Patriots are the most likely first in line. Right now, the 49ers are adamant about keeping Aiyuk for 2024. If things can't be worked out, the Patriots and 49ers have a history of trading that has satisfied both sides. Schefter believe that the Patriots will most likely have to give up a 2025 2nd and a 2027 fourth that could become a 3rd if Aiyuk exceeds 1000 yards in 2024.

Question...............Where the hell did Schefter come up with that trade scenario? Especially a 2027 fourth that could become a 3rd if Aiyuk exceeds 1000 yards in 2024? Is there already a real discussion going on if Aiyuk is determined to leave the 49ers??

Let's talk money. Would it take 5 years and $140M with $100M guaranteed? $28M in 2024 is pretty expensive, but in 2028 will be cheap. He's 26 and will be 27 during this season. A five year contract would sew him up until 2030 when he'll be 31 going on 32.

The Patriots need a LT. Then again, they don't have a #1 WR. If Okafor or Wallace (Who appears to be better at LT than Okafor) can play LT satisfactorily, then spend $28 on Aiyuk just might be enough to put them into the 8 or 9 win category. A couple of well drafted pieces in 2025 could put them back into the playoff picture very quickly.

I'm in.

Why don't we have a #1 WR who said so? We really don't know what we have between who we drafted last year and this year. And for the last three years you can't fairly asses what we do or do not have. To many bad decisions by our former GM left us knowing nothing about the true potential of the offense. I don't think Aiyuk makes this offense better and he benefitted from Samual and Kittle. Big pass for me on Aiyuk

Likely he would make the offense better.
Are we going to the Superbowl? No.
Are we going to the playoffs? Who knows but would he make us go deeper if we made it? No.
Would his contract hamper us in rebuilding? Absofuckinglutely!

What did Stephon Diggs do for Josh Allen and the Bills?
Put up some flashy numbers but no jewelry.

Just sayin.

Completely agree. Let’s see what we have with the new receivers, line, QBs, etc. no need to blow the wad this year. Don’t need that Aiyuk right now.

Let’s see what we have with the new receivers,
There will be a lot to look at....................Polk, Baker, Osborn, Gibson and the other unknowns.

Then they have Thorton and Smith-Shuster fighting for their lives.

6 surprising players who could make Patriots final roster for 2024

There are at least six Patriots players who might surprise during the team's upcoming training camp and make the final roster for the 2024 season.

If they do, who gets cut or asked to go to the PS? Then how many of those that go to the PS immediately get snatched by another team?

Boutte should make the 53 as should Bolden. The rest will be on the PS except Zappe. My guess is that he'll be traded around 8/30 for a sixth or seventh round pick to a team that has multiple QB injuries.

Or did they up the price enough to get the Jets and Bills out of the market?
Can't mention the name of any player or face the loss of a draft pick and a hefty cash whack. Everyone assumes all of the non-spoken stuff is about Aiyuk. With the media dancing, hopping up and down, it allows for the Patriots to talk to other teams. Raiders=Davante Adams? Trade Judon and a 5th and completely blow up Aaron Rogers' desire to play with him again. 49ers=Deebo Samuel? It would allow the 49ers to sigfn Aiyuk to healthy contract and get rid of Samuels' monster one. Or any other quality #1 or #2 ?? Focus becomes so narrow that no one sees what's really happening.

What?
Patriots and several other teams were talking to 49'ers about Aiyuk - legally.
Once you are negotiating with the team, either side is allowed to talk.
They don't usually talk publicly until they are out.

You are not allowed to negotiate with a player directly while a player is under contract.
Once a team has agreement with the other team, they are allowed to talk contract with the player by permission!

One hundred percent true.

But no one can say his name or the league will smack them. Even saying a player's name under contract with another team as a trade candidate will cost a draft pick. It's a very prickly area.

Just read an article claiming Milton is outperforming Maye. I won't bother linking. It's way too soon for any conclusion and Milton was drafted for his upside.
