Posey out for the year, time to trade whomever and play the kids. Actually it was time to do that a couple weeks ago but whatever.

Tony Watson should be the Giants player of the game for giving up those 4 two-out runs and sparing all of us from the pain of having to watch this feeble lineup attempt to hit in extra innings.

True, better late than not at all with 35 games left and this team going nowhere at 62-65.

At least they were in the race for a good portion of the season. Looks like they are ready now to completely fall out of it. Much better than last year at this time, for whatever it's worth.

Sort of a "Tony Watson" link then?

More like a 'Giants hitting' link. You see, Watson has been a very good pitcher all year, like most of the Giants pitchers. The hitting has been shitty most of the year, so in the chain of the Giants this year the weak link is the hitting. So no, you're wrong.

Over the years you've proven to be an astute baseball observer so it's puzzling how wrong you are about this.

Like I told Stokes, it's well past time for you to care what happens with these bums...
But if we all stopped caring, do we just come back in November when the hot stove begins with 40 man roster maneuverings?

Well, we can do whatever we want. We can still come here and shoot the shit and talk about moves to make and comment on games. Occasionally something fun will happen, a kid will pitch a great game, have a 3-4 night, etc. But it's wasted emotion to care if they win or lose a game at this point.

Does Jeff Samardzija count as a kid?

For this purpose maybe so. But if it is better for him to not pitch again this year, that's the way to go.

And we can root for whoever is playing the Dogs! Love to see them not make the playoffs. Not going to happen, of course, but worth some attention.

They probably will make the playoffs but if they miss it wouldn't be that big a surprise, they are playing like shit. ANd we can certainly hope they don't win the division.

There are 8 NL teams vying for 5 spots and right now they have the worst record of the 8

I think they really need to see 4 starts from him to gauge how competitive he is for 2019.

Listening to Kruk this morning, I think his glass-half-full reasoning is sound:
1. We got the emergence of DRod, Suarez, and he thinks Strat is sound now
2. We got Duggar, Slater, Hanson, and Holland as pleasant surprises.
3. Bum should be fully healthy next year
4. We should know about Shark by end of season

I think we are looking ok for next year with:

SP: Bum/Shark/DRod/Suarez/Strat (Blach, Holland, Kelly)
RP: Dyson/MM/Moronta/Smith/Strick/Watson (Blach, Holland, Kelly)
C: Buster/Hundo
IF: BB9/Dozens/Craw/Longo/Hanson/Panda
OF: Duggar/Gork/Slater/Shaw/Mac

This is assuming Cutch is gone, Shaw and Mac are recovered. I also think the FO will try hard to add an OF and/or SP.
