What's the difference in points per game over the past two years?

So far this year the D is giving up 7 points less per game.

I’d add that Quinn is doing this without many first round picks, and obvious holes all over his roster, especially defensively.

Very slightly better but now compare that to last season in the NFL against the run. Here you go:

In 2024, the #1 RB is averaging 124 yards per game on 6.1 YPC and #2 is at 108 yards and 5.9 YPC.
In 2023, the #1 RB averaged 95 yards per game on 5ypc.

In 2024, the number ten running back 73.8 on 4.6/carry.
In 2023, the number ten running back 67.5 yards on 4.8/carry.

Or maybe we should look at teams and rushing. We have played the Eagles (#1 rushing at 188.9 on 5.1/carry) and the Ravens (#2 rushing at 179.1 on 5.7 yards/carry).
Just for comparison, 2023 #1 rushing team (Ravens) averaged 156.5 on 4.9/carry. Even more perspective, #2 in 2023 was 141.1 per game which is
7 this season.

Now we can look at the context of our games against Eagles and Ravens. Saquon rushed 26 times for 146, Gainwell 4 for 43, while Hurts rushed for 10 for 39 yards. Well in the 4th quarter Saquon rushed 6 for 74 yards, Gainwell rushed 3 for 30 yards, and Hurts rushed 3 for 7. Well more than 2/3 oftheir yards came in the fourth quarter when our offense sputtered.

The Baltimore game was the same. Henry rushed 24 for 132 and Lamar was 11 for 40. Mid third quarter and on, Henry was 13 for 86 and Lamar was 4 for -6 (2 kneel downs).

If not for these two late rushing meltdowns, statistically we would be far better against the run this season than last.

Yeah, the defense hasn’t improved at all with DQ and JW.
2023- yards/game 389 (worst), 263 pass (worst), 127 rush (6th worst), scoring 30.5 (worst)
2024- yards/game 328 (16), 191 (5), rush 137 (26), scoring 22.8 (16).

Just because one aspect of the defense is worse but the rest is FAR better, doesn’t mean he is not a guru.
Basically, DQ's scheme is subject to giving up a lot of yardage between the tackles and it has shown. That's where we give up our chunks. In order to be competitive in this league, you MUST stop the run.

Is he a great run stopper? We have not had a good run defense in his tenure…not all on him.

If you factor in price, I will take Payne and Newton every time.
To add to this, Jon Allen's Total tackles and solo tackles from 2019-2023 are better than Aaron Donald's. Donald does lead Allen in sack's during that span 51.5 to 30. (ESPN Stats)

Yet, we likely take a WR in round 1 in 2025 draft.

Just is part of the equation but not the entire equation. Did both play in a one gap system or in a two gap system since their are different responsibilities. Where were the tackles made, within 3 yards of the LOS, 4-7 yards from LOS .... etc.

You gotta give the offense a lotta credit for that -7 point swing from 23 to 24.

Last year the offense averaged 19.4 pt a game. This year the offense is averaging 28.9 pt a game.

The offense definitely gets a lot of credit. Whether throwing or running, the ball seldom hits the ground.

There were also games when then offense could not scores a TD or the defense played well and the offense not so
much.

That's true. And the defense has added some nice pieces this year. The kid from Muchigan, can't think of his name right now. And Luvu n Wagner. Though I wonder if Wagner is really in any long term plans. Anxious to see Lattomore out there as well.

My only point, if Allen is making a ton of tackles, the 2nd level is not.
