Look Allen played well for us . He was a multi time pro bowler and he came back very quickly from the torn pec. I thank him for his time here and wish him well

Yeah, he gave the Skins some good years n was the best thing about a DL that never lived up to the hype.

Good player for us but it was time to go. One of our few first rounder picks that actually hit.

NFL today .... you get paid too much ... get near 30 and get released. The sideline thing with Payne pissed me off.

When Payne goes next year, it’ll be the end of a really bad chapter of redskins drafting and player development.

Hard to believe the combo of Young, Allen, Payne, and Sweat were as bad as they were when considering their draft status.

Even harder to wonder what “could have been” if they had all been under their rookie contracts with this coaching staff.

Anyway, good luck to Jon Allen. If he would take less money, I’d glad welcome him back into the fold for a chance to compete.

Its doubtful in my opinion that he’ll get signed by a team that is any more likely than the commanders are to compete for a spot in the playoffs / win some games in the playoffs….

Definitely feels like this will be Payne's last year with us.

I'd rather have Allen over Payne truth be told. The play your best football by far in your contract year guys have n will always rub me the wrong way.

I think they were both outplayed by their backups last year, if I’m being perfectly honest, Breed.

Yeah, back ups certainly had their moments at times last year. Unfortunately no one played consistently enough in the interior among the starters or back ups.

I know what a 2 time Pro Bowler looks like and Jon Allen never passed the eye test. Lavar was a 3 time Pro Bowler, were either of these players actually dominant and did it for years like a true multi-Pro Bowler?

I will always believe he was overrated based on his college career and reputation. I grew tired of fans making excuses. He was hurt, bad coaching and all that nonsense. Well he was perfectly healthy to start the season and no longer had the bad coaches and he was still ineffective.
