I had no idea it worked that way. Thank God.
The way we have been gutted in the run game, I would think Allen sticks around. Just my hunch is all.I said this would be the dead cap money a day or two ago. This is correct. After this year Washington had $4,1 million in dead cap in 2025 and $2 million + for Dotson.
If they decide to move on from Jon Allen he would count $6 million in dead cap but save $17 million. This isn't a prediction but something some have suggested could happen.
Agreed, but he never looks for the damn ball in the air. He also doesn't use his 6'3" size at all.St.Turd is just not good at defending passes. There are times hes glued to his man but seems to forget the objective
It's not a bad idea imo. That was me. He seems to be a better fit there but what do I know...
I am wasn't suggesting getting rid of Allen, just the economics of if they did.ttThe way we have been gutted in the run game, I would think Allen sticks around. Just my hunch is all.
allen has had a great career for us here in DC . . i like newton's potential but he isnt producing better then allen has for his career and mathis is an enigma . i think you evaluate what to do with allen in the off season
He is a team leader, great run stopper but over paid. How do we get him to take a pay cut to stay? Seem Allen & Payne are > Payne & Newton.I would shop Allen and see his value. While nobody has supplanted him, he has t really done anything to warrant us keeping him.

They were getting gashed with Allen in the line up. And while Allen's production has gradually declined the last 3 years after having his best season in 21. Payne has basically been a JAG his entire career sans his contract year. There were far too many words like "if" and "potential" used too often with the Skins DL. If they play to their full potential. The 4 1st rd draft picks had some nice games together here n there, but that was about it.The way we have been gutted in the run game, I would think Allen sticks around. Just my hunch is all.
I agree with you regarding the line given the fact that all those 1sts round picks were a bit over rated. Allen showed more in the run game than all the others. Without him around, we get gashed every week it seems. Barkley had a hay day between the tackles and will do so again. Some of that has to do with alignment on defense since we move Luvu to an edge often, only leaving Wagner in the middle which is fairly easy to block and create space for guys like Barkley. When Quinn talks about guys like Luvu and how he represents what they want to be on defense, he has also mentioned Allen in the same context. They were getting gashed with Allen in the line up. Currently, we are hearing more of the guys we picked up lately in on plays than we are Payne or Newton. Don't get me wrong, I like Newton, we just need more from those guys.
So our run defense is worse this year than last. Surprising since DQ is a defensive guru. Oh yeah, Allen hasn't played much all season. We are giving up 137 yards per game s season and last season we gave up 127. Not really much of a difference.
We are giving up 4.8 YPC this season compared to 4.5 last season but if we take away the two insane outliers in the fourth quarter of Derrick Henry and Saquon, I think the numbers may tell a different story.
