He's got to be devastated. Obviously Stamkos wanted to go to Russia in a BAD way. At least one teams star player won't have to endure all the headaches of staying in Sochi for 2 weeks.

I doubt Canada will have a problem finding somebody to take his spot. After all there are so many guys to choose from.

Selfishly, I'd be fine with G not heading to Sochi because he'll be rested for the stretch run and if they didn't want him to start, it just feels odd being chosen only because of an injury to someone else

I think Marty should end up going - I don't think you can have an Olympics without Steven Stamkos AND Marty St. Louis not on Team Canada
