Positives:

Pressure - There is still something to be played for in Seattle. Home field is within their grasp, and they've worked so hard to get back into this position after a slow start, it's hard to imagine they'd mail it in now, with only 1 more game to go until they have it.

Memory - I'm sure that first lose in St. Louis, and exactly how it happened is still burned into their brains. It was not only embarrassing, but I still hear jokes from other teams fans about how the Rams made the Seahawks look like idiots. It may have been early in the season, but watch the Seahawks make the Rams pay for the humiliation.

CenturyLink - The team and it's fans are proud of the environment that the stadium provides, and they get to be at home to try and secure the opportunity to be at home throughout the entire playoffs. The house is gonna be rockin'.

Negatives:

Aaron Donald - Robert Quinn is great, and at 10.5 sacks this season he's showing that he can still put up good numbers without Long (even if they are quite as good), but Donald has provided the Rams with solid pressure up the middle. 8 sacks this season have put him on the pro bowl squad, and quick pressure up the middle could make a long day for Wilson.

Janoris Jenkins - It's weird to put him on here it would seem, but he's a highlight reel player. In other words, he isn't really talked about, but when he does something, it's a highlight. 5 of his career 7 INTs have been returned for touchdowns, including 2 this season. Look for him and the Rams defense to take more risks today to try and get the ball. That could spell good plays for Seattle, but may also make things more difficult.

Matchups:

Russell Okung vs. Robert Quinn - Quinn has been a Seahawk killer. 8 sacks in 7 games is impressive, nearly twice as many as against any other team (4.5 against SF). The offense will be solid today if Russ is given time.

Richardo Lockette vs. Tavon Austin - The special teams performance against St. Louis last time was terrible, and look for Lockette and the other st players to take that out on Austin and Benny Cunningham, as they probably won't get the chance against Stedman Bailey.

Jordan Hill vs. Saffold/Wells/Joseph - Seattle has their own DT who can get pressure up the middle. Hill's surge into the starting line up and his success at getting pressure up the middle is a major factor in Seattle's ability to get to the quarterback the last 5 games. The interior line of the Rams will need to keep him contained and give their QBs a chance if the offense is gonna do anything today.

Overview:

The #1 ranked scoring and overall defense is playing like it. 33 points in the last 5 games, and they are playing with a chip on their shoulders. It isn't gonna be fun for any offense to face them right now. I just can't see the Rams, who have given this team plenty of motivation themselves, doing much today. This game had blow out written all over it. Seahawks have to come out as if their season is on the line, as their home field is. St. Louis 6, Seattle 33.

Sadly... I think you're about right. At least we managed to get the season split, I suppose. :sigh:

The Rams have played pretty well this year, and I'm impressed with their defense. Still, I guesstimate that the Seahawks have a 95% chance of winning this game.

Does Pete break out any trick plays today? My guess is yes. Been a while since we've seen the flea flicker and it would be a nice way to thank Jeff Fisher for the division help.

Honestly, I hate predicting a blow out, but this game just looks that way. If the Rams had won earlier this season in any other way, I would be less inclined to predict it, but they humiliated the Seahawks with those trick plays, and I'm sure there's nothing this team would love more is stomp the Rams' face in it, and the Hawks are playing exceptional without that extra motivation.

Looks like Dallas won, so a win and no tie in the Detroit/Green Bay game and it's all our's.

I'm more worried about injuries than winning the game. The rams are known for being dirty and physical, either of which could derail our post season more than going in as a wild card.

Yeah, this game was chippy last year with their guy getting tossed. The Rams were also pretty dirty last week, so we'll see how little class Fisher plays with today.

So, the Eagles will be this year's 10 win team that misses the playoffs.
