Espi with two homers today, including a walkoff oppo boppo. That's the 2nd best news of the day. The first is Doug Fister looked great in his first game back. I was holdin my breath.

Detwiler continues to get lit up this spring, worrisome?

I don't think Soriano was ever good in ST, even when he was having good seasons. Pitching is always tough to get a read on in these games...are they just working on something, like a specific pitch in a new situation, or are they really getting rocked throwing their best stuff? Only they know.

This is all very true. However i am still expecting a lot of heartburn in the 9th. Soriano just doesnt miss many bats. I like my closers to have outstanding swing and miss stuff. More contact = less 1-2-3 innings

Treinan reassigned to minor league camp. If i have this right, the final bullpen spot will come down to: Aaron Barrett, Ryan Mattheus, Xavier Cedeno, Michael Gonzalez or Tanner Roark (if he doesnt win #5 starter job).

P.S. 7 days til opening day.

Just my opinion, but if the Nats want the best 25 players on the team, Taylor Jordan and Tanner Roark will both be on it.

Taylor Jordan tosses 5.2 IP and only 1 run given up... to Giancarlo, so i cant hold that against him LOL. Only walked 2 guys in over 20 innings this sping. Me likey. There really is no difference between him and Roark, both proved they deserve to be on the team.

But it sounds like Matty Williams may take a 3rd lefty reliever to start the season, given the first week of the schedule (Mets and Barves). He wants the lefty-lefty matchup against guys like Freeman/Heyward/Granderson/Murphy/Ike Davis

Tyler Moore, Xavier Cedeno, Ryan Mattheus - optioned to AAA

Aaron Barrett - makes opening day bullpen!!! congrats to him

This is shocking. I thought Moore and Carroll were locks and neither made it. Loser of Jordan/Roark will go AAA.

Kobernus still has a chance, or Nats might take 3(!) catchers.

Doug Fister to DL. Will be shut down for 5 days, then resume throwing. Could be 20-30 days before he's back.

Rotation will set up like this:

3/31 at Mets: Stras
4/1: off
4/2 at Mets: Gio
4/3 at Mets: Zim
4/4 vs Barves: Roark
4/5 vs Barves: Stras (on regular 5 days rest)
4/6 vs Barves: Taylor Jordan
