Boch is hinting that Bum may be the second starter, particularly if Volgy is on the DL to start the season (which doesn't look at all likely, but if it were to happen), to break up the lefties (presumably Bum-Zito-Surkamp). Bum is starting the second game, but that's not any indication of whats just to come.

I like that rotation, regardless. Hopefully, Voges can just slip into the fifth slot to lessen the blow of an inevitable "sophomore slump." He can't very well pitch better than he did last year. Can he? :fingerscrossed: (does that emoticon not exist?)

Nah. I'd have to see him there to confirm, but I can't see Pill being able to get to balls going away from first and whipping around to make the throw. He looked playable at 3B, though. Certainly looked smoother than Bob Brenly used to.

Damning with faint praise there, bruddah. The reports on him at 2B last year (where they put him in Fresno to make room for Belt at 1B) is that he's a statue. I think his best bet is to backup 1B, 3B, and LF. According to Pavlovic, he's not a water buffalo.
