I don't even ever look at my previous weeks poll. Don't need the bias and it doesn't matter. Even if a team wins it's game their resume could be substantially worse if their prior wins lose value. Simply winning your game is fine but it's better if your prior victims do well. That's how you can actually judge what is a good win and a bad loss. For example it is great Bama throttled UGA this past weekend buy it would have been even better for the Tide if their loss, Ole Miss, hadn't been blown out by Florida or if their prior best win, Wisconsin, had not lost at home to Iowa. You can't just move teams around based on how their games go. You have to look at,the whole picture

Yep and many computers have reduced or no value for a FCS team despite the fact a top tier FCS team like an Illinois St is probably a better opponent than 50 percent of the fbs.

Illinois State is about like a Kansas. My point was those games shouldn't count for anything. Neither should games again Wake Forest, Army, Central Carolina Community College, etc. Its silly to factor exhibition warm up games into a strength of schedule when there is a 0.000000% chance of loss. And, for top 25 teams, it doesn't matter if they're playing Illinois State or the worst Italian futballers. They're going to win, regardless of how poorly they play. The game isn't in doubt. FCS games are automatic wins for top 25 teams and the "difficulty" should affect a strength of schedule. It's like determining the tallest midget or the fastest snail.

Agreed. It's absurd to get extra points for beating Ball State as opposed to Indiana State

Well I don't know how colley figures it. I do know I just saw 8 different SOS ranking for BOTH teams so SOS isn't a reliable metric because every ranking is figured differently. Frankly it's irrelevant. From what I have seen this year Iowa has 4 wins that are better than A&Ms bottom 2 wins or put more simple Iowa has 4 of the 7 best wins. I'd rank them

1. Iowa's win at Wisconsin
2. TAMU win neutral vs AZ St
3. Iowa home win vs Pitt
4. TAMU home win vs Miss St
5. Iowa's road win vs Iowa St
6. TAMU neutral win vs Arkansas
7. Iowa home win vs Illinois St

- The other 3 wins are meaningless

- You could argue the order of the top 6 which is why I said I'd have no issue with someone ranking A&M ahead of Iowa but there is no shot in hell that those schedules aren't very similar in difficulty.
Time will tell how good Wisky, ASU, Pitt, Miss St, ISU and Arky are. I can see why your ordered them the way you did and agree true road wins count a lot. But, I'm more sold on Iowa and A&M than any of the teams they've beaten. I'm not a buyer yet on Wisky, ASU or Miss State. Already a seller on Arky and ISU but both are probably capable enough to screw up the season for conference leaders.

Why aren't you equally worried about USC being ahead of Stanford and Northwestern?

Because USC has one loss, as does Stanford, Ole Miss and Bama. Utah, Oklahoma and Northwestern are undefeated as of today. IMO, I think USC is ranked just about right.

Alabama would be undefeated if they played the schedules those teams played.

Isn't America great? Everyone has an opinion. Utah beat two ranked teams this year so far.

Like TB said, there's a discussion thread for this. The other thread is for VOTING.
So what? I'm not voting on any poll!! I'm stating my opinion. This is a discussion thread, not a voting thread.
