It looks again like this off season we are just sitting back watching all the big name free agents go elsewhere. Brandon Marshall just signed with the Jets for a 5th round pick. I think he would have looked pretty good on one side and Britt on the other. Seems to me like we do this every year.

The Jets will remain bad because they make dumb decisions. Like trading for a 31 year old WR whom had a mediocre year.
If you follow FA you'll see that teams usually overspend and players usually under-perform. Sure there are exceptions but the majority of the time they end up creating another hole.

I would just get some players to fill some holes @ Guard or Center. And maybe a LB.
Only person I would make a trade for is Foles as i think he's a good enough QB to take over for mama Samantha.

It's true that he had an off season last year but I believe he had some pretty good ones before that and as far as teams overpaying, I agree with you, some do but he went for a 5th rounder. IMO I would take his caliber of player over any 5th rounder in the draft.

I dunno about that. EJ Gains comes to mind. Kid looks all kinds of all pro his rookie year and he was picked in the 6th.

He went for a 5th rounder but I'm sure the Jets have to take on his salary now too. Which we don't have cap room to do that.

That's the issue. Rams only have about $7M in cap space right now, and Marshall is due $7.7M in 2015.

Until they cut more players loose (like Jake Long), cap space is at a premium.

I still can't believe they haven't cut players like J Long, Wells and Pead. Just INSANE!

I actually think we are around 10mil now with the cut of Langford.

Raminator, this thread probably should be over in the Negativity thread but I'll leave it for now. You guys are doing a good job of not getting too negative but it's close. You're getting better at discussing a potentially negative topic riding the line without stepping over and that is pretty good for now.

I think the Rams have proven that Free Agency is overrated for us. In the last ten years, we have had maybe less than five FA's really work out and get us a step closer to being a great football team again. Long is the latest example. Britt is a keeper and is a positive in that regard but many like Wells and Joseph have just been a money drain with little contribution. All the good players have come through the draft by and large. Don't get too caught up in signing FAs. It really can be a worse crap-shoot than the draft.

Id actually be more worried about the team going to far in Free Agency to save their jobs. The priority for FA is oline

Please be assured that the Rams will make a play for Iupati (probably wont get him), Wisnewski (almost a LOCK to sign with us), Rodney Hudson and Orlando Franklin. They will probably resign Britt and let Kendricks and Barksdale walk. Maybe go after a veteran OLB as well... that is all. Most of what we will do has to do with restructuiring Bradford and Jake Long.

I guess the first domino that has to fall is they have to see what Barksdale gets on the open market. Even if Jake Long is the assumed RT then that still means they need an insurance policy G/T. If Saffold is that insurance policy then you can almost guarantee that they'll make a play for one of the interior lineman.

Wisnewski, Hudson, and Iupati are the three of the better FA's but I think we do not have the cash to put for any of them unless we dump some more contracts. Kendricks, Long, Barksdale, Wells, and Joseph would get us some space.

Wisnewski and Hudson will probably come cheaper and Wisnewski would be an instant improvement over Wells.

I agree. Getting a top center should be their first choice in FA. because no way fisher is going to have a rookie calling out the plays we need a young proven vet for this. We can get a guard in any rd this year. The reason they haven't cut Wells yet imo if they can't for some reason sign a FA center. They can't take s chance of a rookie not working out being able to call the plays and pick up stunts. Long hasn't been cut because we will get more cap space if We cut him after June 1st I believe

Well not Barksdale, Kendricks or Joseph. They are off the books right now as UFA's. Wells getting cut, Long taking a pay cut or getting cut and Bradford taking a pay cut will give us the room to grab Wisnewski, either Hudson or Orlando Franklin AND maybe a guy like AJ Hawk.

Barnes has played center and played well there. They can cut Wells at any time and we'd have the vet center if they are not going to sign a FA center, Cougar.

And to be very clear, we cannot be spectators in a game that does not start until Tuesday!! Just saying.

We do not have the players, cap room or draft picks to make the deals people are making now. Just relax.
