On Thursday defensive back Montae Nicholson of Gateway High School in Monroeville, Pennsylvania made his college choice. The 6-foot-2, 202-pound prospect selected MSU from a final list which included Michigan State, Florida State, Pittsburgh, Oregon and Virginia Tech. Nicholson had over 30 BCS scholarship offer in all.

Nicholson was one of the top uncommitted players in the entire Big Ten region for the class of 2014. Rivals.com rates him a 4-star recruit and the #1 prospect in Pennsylvania. He is also rated the #13 safety prospect in the nation and the #135 player overall by rivals.com.
