White Sox, Edwin Encarnación agree on a 1 year deal.

They've got a pretty interesting team. Pitching still looks a little iffy, but there's also a lot of upside.

Expected more out of the White Sox last year but looks like they should be ready to contend this year. Especially in a division that should be up for grabs

Nah this was always the plan, 3 year rebuild, sign FAs and go for it starting in 2020

They should have a 3-4 year window, we'll see what happens

Good luck. We are hoping that happens for us in a couple years

Lineup vastly improved but it starts and ends with pitching...you never know with minor league guys and pitchers playing above their expected potential but I like the Twins and Indians pitching more to this point. Both top 5 and 10 pitching staffs and that's with the Twins BP tearing down that ERA as well.

They better hope their pitchers get 15+ strikeouts a night, because that defense wil be awful

It sucked last year, now they are adding Mazara, Grandal and Encarnacion

Encarnacion probably won't be getting a lot of defensive reps outside of interleague away games, though that still doesn't make for a good defense. They did lose arguably their best glove (Sanchez) as well.

Good thing Giolito nearly doubled his strikeout rate last year...

True

I was thinking more about them adding a couple more DHs, forcing Abreu to play more 1B.

They'll have a lot of 9-8 games

They did need to improve at DH. Their designated hitters combined to hit .205/.285/.356. That's horrible. Steamer projects him to hit .246/.346/.498 with 35 home runs and a 123 wRC+. That would be a vast improvement.

And yet, it wasn't even their worst position. Their right fielders hit .220/.277/.285. I don't think much of Mazara but even then he looks like a sizable upgrade.
