This new staff is clearly focused on getting younger. Honestly, was this ever a seriously considered move? Beyond a courtesy call to a former player, I doubt it.

I beg to differ here. My gut tells me RR really wanted Olsen on his team and provide that veteran leadership. I'm happy he signed with Seattle, a team at the moment ready to contend, we are not.

My gut also tells me that the respect from former players of RR, Olsen called first to tell RR he was choosing Seattle and I'm sure that phone call was difficult for Olsen. I'm also certain RR handled the call with class making Olsen feel better about his choice.

Can't and won't debate against your gut, but we had first crack at him then passed. RR has declared publicly that the intent is to go younger. My gut tells me that they are more focused upon ridding themselves of current elder statesmen than adding more into the roster.

We probably all wish Olsen luck in Seattle, and also probably all are glad that he didnt sign with the redskins.

That’s a lot of money for an aging tight end with potentially declining skills on an inefficient offense like ours (has been).
