Why are they flyers constantly trading for offense when the D is what needs to be upgraded??? Offense wins division crowns but Defense wins Championships!

It's not like I want Vinny gone but he's having trouble at wing so in comes Brown. If they could also get a dman from the leafs then there's your upgrade. Maybe Mez is included and they get a 3rd liner back maybe stoll? Could work....

Quick update from the guys I was talking o the other day apparently (and with good reason) the Leafs are very high on O'reilly right now and were willing to make some kind of offer based around Kadri and Franson. The Avs have apparently said no they want a d-man more like Coburn/Grossman type work horses, good on the PK and physical. My reaction of saying I'd gladly take Franson over one of them was met with a giant and loud "duh" but no one is certain if the Fyers have been brought in on the talks. According to this group of guys these 3 way deals are becoming much more common due to the cap situation a lot of teams are in.

Again just throwing this out here and confirming I am not trying to take Ek's job, just his paychecks

Also has is it just me or has Kadri just become the whipping boy in TOR doesn't ha have like 40 or so points this season?

I'm sure if Homer has the chance to upgrade a dman he will...maybe something like this could work out. I know that they've been playing well but man would it be nice to have at least one more top notch guy back there who can move the puck.

Kadri has been the whipping boy since he was drafted the fans have never liked the pick...

He seems like he would do well someplace where he wasn't in the top 3 talent wise. He'd be killer in CHI, ANA, VAN or even TAM possibly.

TOR fans always expect way too much out of their 1st rounders and usually don't give them the proper time to develop an before being thrown into the NHL, just my observation.

Referring to the Calgary game:

* For the second straight game, there were two scouts from the Dallas Stars (Les Jackson and Dan O'Brien) in the Wells Fargo Center pressbox. Ditto the Tampa Bay Lightning (Pat Verbeek and Jamie Pushor).

Trevor Daly?

Can you really see us taking on another 3-4 D-man? I'm not sure if I can envision that unless there's an injury or a D-man going back.

AND yes we share the same problem with our expectations of young players as TOR does. Except we actually always draft quality C's

Agreed. I read somewhere that Dallas was looking for size/toughness on the blueline in return for Daly, which the Flyers have to give.

A big three way trade .... the teams involved make sense, but I am not so sure about the players.
There is another "rumor" floating around about the Rangers being in on something out of the box and one of the teams possible being the Flyers...

....here is my $.02

The Flyers will make a move prior to the deadline, maybe two. The deals are more likely to be geared towards defense than forwards (if they are making hockey moves and not "headline" moves).

No GM who was answerable to Ed Snider has ever sat on his hands at the deadline. Moves and moves a plenty are the name of the game.

Again, I see maybe two moves...both of the middle tier....but that is not written in stone and not based on anything other than a lot of years seeing what they have done and looking at what this team needs and what other teams around the league need and are able to do within the cap.

I've been writing off these Callahan rumors over the past 24 hours, but when I start thinking about it a bit of me worries. Do not want Callahan at his pricetag

Think about it though, knowing that with him being a UFA at the end of the season and the talks being stalled, Rangers probably won't get a ton, if you can get him for even a couple of months that's not bad - and if he were to leave in FA then you have cap space to either give younger guys a chance or improve the defense

From hockeybuzz, for what it's worth:

"The Flyers appear to be targeting Andrew MacDonald from the Islanders as well as Dustin Byfuglien... They would not be acquiring both players...Trevor Daley looks like he may be another option..."
