Someone tell me the pass defense is still ok.

I actually didn't think Champ looked bad. He got beat a couple times short, but he also made a couple nice breakups. Maybe I was too busy seeing Blackmon bend over the rest of the secondary to really see how Champ was doing

Wow sorry Broncos6482 I was a little off on my numbers. Typed it quick without really thinking too much. You are right though.

Now HOF-Elway-7 this past week I would say they played a lot more bend but don't break defense than they have all year. It seems with each passing weak they have gotten a little more conservative playing off and playing a lot more zone and I think a big part of that is because of so many key pieces missing. Last year we played almost exclusively the press man coverage but a big part of that was we had one of the best pass rushes in the NFL with Von. My guess is with Von, Champ, Ayers (better pass rusher than people give him credit for), and Woodyard back hopefully all this week we will see them go back to this style.

I think we should be worried about the pass defense but cautiously optimistic with Champ, Woodyard and finally Miller getting back. I agree Woodyard is a huge part of our defense but remember we still struggled even with him in the lineup. Champ looked pretty bad but hopefully he was just rusty, all we need is for Champ to be good not great. I hope Von took his time off like a pro and comes in ready to go and is in shape and hungry to make up his mistakes. Hopefully with all three back it will make a big difference.

I'm not sure that I'm all in on the theory that the Broncos are ranked 32nd in pass D because of more attempts or garbage time. They are ranked last and are giving up 338 yards per game through the air. That is not a fluke after 6 games. We don't have a bend don't break defense either as we are ranked 26th in scoring. I think we'll get better and I have faith in Del Rio but if we don't this season won't end well for the second straight season.

Dead on and the problem I have is Blackman is all the Jags had and nothing was done to even slow him down. How many quick short passes have to be thrown to him to have the corners creep up on him.

I think people are underestimating how important Woodyard is to this defense. And getting back one of the top 5 defensive players in the entire NFL is obviously going to be a huge boost to this defense. I don't expect them to suddenly jump up and be the best defense in the NFL, but I certainly think that they can be a top half of the league defense when everyone is back. As good as this offense is that should be enough.

Thats what I heard last year. Hopefully you are right.

Broncos? Perfect Season Ends With Humiliating Win Over Jaguars | The Onion - America's Finest News Source

DENVER—While speaking to members of the media following yesterday’s practice, several Broncos players reportedly took time to reflect on their perfect season ending with Sunday’s humiliating 35-19 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. “I think we stopped taking games one at a time, got caught looking ahead, and ultimately we paid the price,” said Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker, referring to their embarrassing 16-point win over the last-place Jaguars in which the Broncos only managed to score four touchdowns heading into the fourth quarter. “Missing out on perfection is obviously a tough pill to swallow, but at the end of the day we’ve got a lot of other goals we’d still like to accomplish. Coach Fox has said from the beginning that winning the Super Bowl is all that matters, so finishing strong and securing a bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs is what we’re focusing on now. There’s definitely plenty left for us to play for.” At press time, sources confirmed Jaguars players continued to celebrate their sixth straight moral victory.

And yes, it's sarcasm. It's the Onion. Apparently a ton of people are ignorant of this.
