Well you got that. WAY below average!

Really, I do think getting Woodyard back and Miller is going to make a big difference.

Alot of quick slants and passes today where a pass rush didnt matter. The corners played way far to off Blackmon. When he is the only weapon on the team that many yards shouldnt be given up to one guy.

not impressed by giving up 291 yards passing to the Jags. Sorry.

Who gives a shit about yards? Points are what matters. Bradford had 117 yards today, not good. Oh, he had 3 TDs, good.

I am concerned with the defense but we do have quite a few starters missing. The offense's performance was rough. If we keep that up we are going to struggle next week.

Yepp the pass defense looks great. Secondary was garbage again. Von Miller better be the answer.

Here are some football facts since you seem to think that the secondary is supposed to be infallible and NEVER EVER let an opposing receiver catch a ball.

We are not generating much of a pass rush. Henne has all day to throw and you can't cover tight for more than 3-5 seconds. Someone is getting open and Henne had an arm and a good head.

A lot of missed tackles. Chris Harris at leading tackler with 11 means a lot of plays getting to the secondary level. Not good. That means the front 7 is not consistent and Woodyard out is the biggest factor there. A lot of Blackmon's yards were after the catch, he's good, we tackled poorly a lot.

People. The defense gave up 1 TD in the redzone today.

Peyton Manning had 3 turnovers today, albeit one on a bad snap by Ramirez, and the Jags were not able to capitalize on that.

Now take a breath.

You know what else isn't impressive? Putting up 27 points and STILL losing by 22 points. That's 3 touchdowns! Not impressive at all. Enjoy your Lombardi Trophy. Ravens had a great run last year.

Bottom line is they got the win, Defense was stingy in the redzone, and we should have Woodyard and Ayers back and we know we get Von back next week.

The bigger mistakes were on offense today, not defense.

This is true. The Jags had 9 points off of turnovers, and 6 of those the defense never even had a chance to weigh in.

Getting Woodyard and Ayers back and healthy is big. Getting Miller back from suspension takes this defense to the next level. The Broncos have some OK players along the front, but when you add Miller to the equation it is a whole new ball game. Teams are going to have to game plan for him. Double team him and someone like Ayers or Phillips is getting through. Miller is a disruptive force on the field. He may be a little rusty, but his presence on the field may be a big enough contribution to make the difference until he gets his feet beneath him.

i'm just being honest and tell you my opinion. My Ravens are playing like shit but they still have a chance to repeat as slim as it may seem.

Likewise.

It'll be awesome when the former Browns are looking up at the current Browns in the standings by the time the season ends.

now you're just being ridiculous.

Browns are 3-3, same as the Ravens. Seems within reason to me. Just like it's perfectly reasonable to acknowledge the Chiefs are a legit threat to the Broncos. Ravens barely beat the Browns in Baltimore, and they are not going to receive a warm welcome later when they play in Cleveland. It wouldn't surprise me if the Ravens are picking before the Browns in the draft next May.

Can't believe we have to talk people off the ledge again.

Look, the defense wasn't great yesterday. Can we all start by acknowledging that? OK, good. Now, the defense gave up 13 points. 13! Yes, they gave up a bunch of yards. Yes, Blackmon had a big day. Did anyone consider that maybe, just maybe, he's pretty darn good? He burned everyone in the secondary yesterday. Champ, Harris, DRC, he made plays against each of them.

I saw someone complaining about the Broncos playing soft coverage. Hmm, could that maybe be due to the fact that they can't trust the pass rush to get their consistently? When you're playing a team like the Jaguars, the worst thing you can do is give them an opportunity to make big plays. Make them take 10 plays to drive down the length of the field. They'll make mistakes (and they did). Shoot, that's basically the same strategy they employed against us and they held us to our season low in points.

Let's not take the human nature element out of it, either. This game was sandwiched between a big road game against the Cowboys and an even bigger road game against the Colts. This was the last game before the return of Von Miller. The Broncos can talk all day about how they took the Jags seriously, that they truly believed they were a good team, etc., but it wasn't really true. Their performance yesterday proved it; they were very flat and out of sync, especially on offense.

Let's also acknowledge that we're talking about rich people problems here. We're complaining about a defensive performance that included two turnovers and 13 points allowed. We're upset at our lousy offense that only scored 35 points (which is more than anyone else in the NFL is even averaging). We're annoyed about a game the Broncos never trailed and were never even tied in after 0-0 and won comfortably by 16 points.

We're worried about a 6-0 team that is one of only two undefeated teams left.

No one is saying we don't have issues; we do, but they're minor compared to what most teams are going through. And we really don't know how good our defense can be yet because we haven't seen it all on the field at the same time. Are they good? Are they bad? Who knows? Starting this week we should begin to learn the answer to that question.

It really isn't that ridiculous. The Browns are playing some decent football and have a few playmakers. The Ravens have a good defense but the offense obviously is having some major issues this season. Now honestly I do think the Ravens finish ahead of the Browns (but behind the Bengals). The Browns though do have some very good young talent that is developing and some major fire power for the upcoming draft to get the players that they want. This next draft will be huge for them moving forward of whether they can be a contender or pretender.

Also Broncos6482 I could not have said it better myself. We are mad at our defense after giving up I think it was actually 12 points since they stopped the 2-point conversion with the offense giving them 4 turnovers to have to try and stop. Considering they are still missing some key players on defense that was a pretty decent effort. One player completely tore us apart yes but he was a top 10 draft pick that is expected to be a top receiver at some point.

I know expectations are a "Mile High" for this team so when we do not see total domination on the field there are some concerns that come with that but like you said this was the classic "Trap" game coming off a very emotional tight game in Dallas and the fact that everybody was already talking about the Indy game in the media skipping over the Jaguars game. Very seldom do you see a team for 16 straight games put up perfect performances. The fact that we had a down game and still won by 16 should in reality be very promising. Now obviously both sides of the ball have a lot to clean up before this upcoming Indy game but this Bronco offense should have no problem as I would bet Peyton whips them into shape this week and defensively having Von, Ayers, and Woodyard back should improve the defense automatically just having them all on the field.

Actually it was 13. 19 total points allowed, 6 go on the offense for the pick 6 (that was when the defense stopped the 2 point attempt). And it was 3 total turnovers, not 4.

Exactly.

This is what I'm talking about. These guys aren't robots, they're still humans and still affected by human nature. That's why upsets happen.

I think people are underestimating how important Woodyard is to this defense. And getting back one of the top 5 defensive players in the entire NFL is obviously going to be a huge boost to this defense. I don't expect them to suddenly jump up and be the best defense in the NFL, but I certainly think that they can be a top half of the league defense when everyone is back. As good as this offense is that should be enough.

Agreed 100%.

They were banged up and are set to get some important players back in the next couple weeks.

Players in this league make plays and Blackmon is a player. It happens.

I think we should be worried about the pass defense but cautiously optimistic with Champ, Woodyard and finally Miller getting back. I agree Woodyard is a huge part of our defense but remember we still struggled even with him in the lineup. Champ looked pretty bad but hopefully he was just rusty, all we need is for Champ to be good not great. I hope Von took his time off like a pro and comes in ready to go and is in shape and hungry to make up his mistakes. Hopefully with all three back it will make a big difference.

I'm not sure that I'm all in on the theory that the Broncos are ranked 32nd in pass D because of more attempts or garbage time. They are ranked last and are giving up 338 yards per game through the air. That is not a fluke after 6 games. We don't have a bend don't break defense either as we are ranked 26th in scoring. I think we'll get better and I have faith in Del Rio but if we don't this season won't end well for the second straight season.
