I think another positive from this game is Moreno's performance. He carried 19 times for 93 yards and a TD. He also had 5 receptions for 57 yards. Then there is the stuff the box scores never capture, like his ferocious pass blocking.

Moreno's stats are not going to impress anyone. Between sharing carries with Hillman and Ball and the pass-first offense this team runs, it's not likely Moreno is going to pile on 100+ rushing yards too many times this year. But his contributions have been immense. Plus he plays with some attitude. You can see it on his face. He is a nasty element to this offense that gets overlooked. Hopefully it stays that way.

Moreno is playing very well. The only RB I trust right now. Hillman is getting there.

Pass defense hasnt been good at all in 5 games for the most part. Numbers dont lie and spin it how you want with refs, injuries, and so on but besides injuries its Denver's biggest concern. Lets not act like Dallas's offense is the next coming of the fastest show on turf. I expect it to get better once some guys return but lets not act like they are playing well.

Who said they are playing well? Numbers do lie. Stats do not tell just one story. Only 2 things matter.

The eye test and the win/loss column. I seriously doubt we have a game like that again this season where we have 5-6 starters out during a game against a tough offense.

You have to look at all the factors, Road game, injuries, a game where we could really use a pass rusher like Miller, Decker fumbles, Manning with his first INT of the season.

A close call like this is just what the defense needs to tighten up and we have the friggin Jaguars next week.

Perfect game to get confidence back, for Champ to warm up in, and Von Miller is back the week after.

Quityercryin' Chicken Little.

And, if we did not turn the ball over twice, we would have extended that lead and Moreno would have gotten more carries, killing the clock more effectively and keeping Romo on the sidelines in a game where he is red hot.

Al I hear from you is, "The defense was pathetic" yet no breakdown of who or what went wrong or any analysis at all.

Your just whining and quoting statistics.

Hence, chicken little.

The corners played way to off the wr's but yet still got beat deep. Safties numerous times were out of position. LB'sd trying to stay with Dez Bryant and Jason Witten didnt help at all. Tackling was terrible. There wasnt much of a pass rush except for Phillips. Happy?

Yes I am. 500 yards is way to much. Did you guess over 500 yards passing today? I doubt it.

No, not initially. If you would have noticed, the D started playing well in the 2nd when they abandoned the zone blitz scheme they tried using in the first quarter and went back to playing man. They held Romo to almost nothing. When Woodyard and Carter went out, I knew it was going to turn into a track meet. Romo is an ok QB (that pulls boneheaded moves at times) and has weapons as which is known.

I admit, the D played bad, especially Carter, DRC, Irving, and the D Line, but all of those guys (maybe not Irving) have proven to be able to play at a high level, they had bad games. It does happen on occasion when 4 out of your top 5 players (who play almost every snap) on D were not in the game.

Though, who am I to try and convince you not to continue with your "the sky is falling" diatribe? I will bow out of this thread till it is proven later in the season whether or not the wheels have come off when the D gets healthier and we see what we see.

All things that have been previously said by myself and others on this thread, so no, not happy with your response.

You are way overreacting to the defensive performance.

You act as if their poor play today is proof positive that that is who they are and will play exactly the same way all season.

You said, "If Denver doesn't win it all this year it will be because of the pass defense."

So "the pass defense" we saw tonight is positively, absolutely the only pass defense we will see from this team all season.

Von and Champ returning, Chris Harris and all the other starters healthy will not make any difference, right?

The Cowboys would have put up 48 points on us even if we had every starter in there, right?

They would have put up 48 points even if Decker doesn't fumble and Manning doesn't throw an INT, right?

Very unusual for a team to play so poor defensively and still win. In fact, today might be a first for that.

Looked as if they had some things figured out in the second quarter, ending the half much better than it began. Not much good in the second half besides the Trevathon INT, though.

Glad we are getting Champ and Miller back soon. That should help. Playing defense like we did today won't win many games.

You can't look at stats and just assume defense is terrible. Before today's game, there are a LOT of garbage yards and garbage points in those stats. You look at the actual games, and what happened in those, the defense never lost control of a game until today. THAT'S what you need to look at.

Morph is right about one thing. It's just one game where our defense wasn't in control of a game. Defense was flat, they were uncharacteristically undisciplined, secondary had more injuries, it adds up. The long balls we gave up after some of those injuries. You think Chris Harris allows those if he's in there? What about Bailey plus DRC?

If you want a legitimate area of concern, it's TE coverage. we still seem to suck at it. However, I'm not going to panic about the defense as a whole until they show they can't control a game consistently. If the Jags come in and rack up 30+ on us, then it's cause for concern. Not yet though.

Truth.

I'll go on a limb and say at some point this season the offense will have a bad game and it will be the defense that wins it for our Broncos. It's football and happens from time to time.
