I dont think any NFL player is worth 60 mil a yr.
I think I recall Prickey Henderson saying he didn't think he could play for just $1 million? Can't recall who it was who suddenly got more.
I dont think any NFL player is worth 60 mil a yr.
I can see both sides of it, I'm just trying to figure out what the right answer is. I think there are a few players that I would give $60M to. Mahomes, Allen, Burrow and Lamar Jackson. That's it for me. Anyone else would be $40M or im looking for a draft pick. I understand the whole Franchise QB thing, but those 4 guys play the position at a completely different level IMO. I think case in point is the Cowboys the last few weeks. Cooper Rush is absolute trash at QB. We are playing with a skeleton crew, makeshift OL. But we are playing the defense and running the football and are as competitive now as we were when Dak was in the lineup and we were close to full strength and getting crushed by GB in the playoffs and N.O. both in home gamesI dont think any NFL player is worth 60 mil a yr.
but this is the way the NFL is. So that changes nothing. He will get paid. This I can guarantee.
FYI I said last year Deebo will be gone before next year.
If they are being smart with how to replace people Not just their talent level. Purdy & Williams would be safe. BTW I thought Williams just redid his deal so he isnt going anywhere already.
Would I want to keep CMac. Sure, but he is showing wear & tear this year & that doesnt usually get better at his age. So if I lost him while they were showing the back ups were being successful. This is doable.
Warner. While I would want & try to keep him. The Niners always find new great talent at the LB position. So if need be. That position can be replaced. I dont see Kittle going anywhere. Also dont see him fighting for the top dollar. Think he will retire a Niner.
All pro lineman & Franchise QBs will always get resigned. To hard to take a chance at replacing. Even if the team over pays for them.
If the team paid top dollar for all these other guys & ended up with a dud at QB all the other guys pay is going to be a waste anyways.
So Franchise QBs will always get paid. This is just the way of things.
I dont get mad at teams for doing it. Now as we (fans) nick pick. We can say if I had to pay a franchise QB I would rather pay this one over that one, & we can be bummed that isnt the case. Because we (whichever team) only have one to choose from to pay. So they will pay them.
Earlier this season, Jerry threatens to have a few radio hosts fired for back talking him because they weren't "football guys". The sad part is those guys plus every guy on the Cowboys board knew Dowdle was better than Zeke before the first carry was made this season. Sad timesRico Dowdle
13 games played
177 carries for 880 yards
first 9 games played
93 carries for 402 yards
last 4 games played
84 carries for 478 yards
This is why I'd read a tell all book should one ever be written. Jerry mandates who gets first crack to shine.
and the coaches knew too.Earlier this season, Jerry threatens to have a few radio hosts fired for back talking him because they weren't "football guys". No question about it.and the coaches knew too.
i'm sure as if I was in the room, Jerry had the Elliott reunion done without consulting any coach
I wish they had not signed Dak. I was hoping for more of a rebuild.I can see both sides of it, I'm just trying to figure out what the right answer is. Yep. Just like he did when he traded away those two fourth round picks. Where is Mingo?and the coaches knew too.
i'm sure as if I was in the room, Jerry had the Elliott reunion done without consulting any coach
blocking?Where is Mingo?
Nothing says team building like trading a 4th rounder for a 5th WR who's specialty is blockingblocking?
As the saying goes, you are what you eat. Squirrel brains fits Jerry perfectlyInteresting .
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says raccoon, squirrel are among dietary preferences
Jerry Jones is one of the NFL's most outspoken owners. The Dallas Cowboys owner recently discussed a couple of animals he has enjoyed eating in the past.www.foxnews.com
50ish? No one was giving a healthy Dak $60M other than Jerry. No chance anyone gives a coming off another major injury and a crappy season Dak that muchHeres the thing - if Dak plays out this year without a contract and becomes a FA , what would he get even after the injury. ???
He would have gotten $55-56 even with the injury. Tommy DeVito, Aiden O'Connell and Will Levis are all starters50ish? No one was giving a healthy Dak $60M other than Jerry. No chance anyone gives a coming off another major injury and a crappy season Dak that much
That doesn't make sense. No team is happy with DeVito as their starter and a good chance none of those 3 is a starter next year and certainly not in 2 yearsHe would have gotten $55-56 even with the injury. Tommy DeVito, Aiden O'Connell and Will Levis are all starters
It didn't make sense that he would get $60M from the Cowboys either did it Bro? You thought his "sweet spot" was $52M. I am on the side that says only a few guys are worth that, but I saw several teams pay guys that aren't as good as Dak $53M+. As long as the leg checks out, someone would pony up. But you are right in that no one else would give Dak $60M but our OwnerThat doesn't make sense. No one but Jerry was paying that and no one would trade for him at that amount. Jerry's an idiot and in no way a barometer of what another team would do. He bid against himself and still paid a ridiculous premium. No one else is paying Dak that amount and the narrative about Dak holding all the chips was always ridiculous to everyone except maybe Jerry for god knows what reason. Regardless I'm talking about using Devito as justification for a starting QB getting a particular salary. One has nothing to do with the other. I didn't say $60M from another team, I said $55-56. And he would have gotten that. Pre injury and with a other season like last, yes. Gotta remember, when I originally said $60M, he waa coming off a near MVP season for a 12 win team. We didn't know Jerry and Stephen were going to gut the team and pocket money. It sounds like they are going to do it again. They could sign Micah and still clear $100M in cap space(which im sure you now as you are very good at the cap), but Stephen is already saying ita going to be a tight squeeze, so I fully expect to lose 6-7 starters and replace them with draft picks and be even worse next seasonI think you said minimum $60M from another team
