Keep an eye on this...Will McClay's contract expires after this season and his son is graduating from HS. Jerry may or may not have to give up the GM title to keep him, but at the very least kick him up to around $4M a year, which Stephen may not want to do as he loves his money

The Cowboys could have been 8-6 if they would have been feeding Rico all along. They still didn't run him enough yesterday IMO

I just wish these two fools would sell the team or maybe part of that roof in At T &T falls on them in a freak accident or something like that.

Despite signing a five-year, $97 million contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys in July of 2023, Trevon Diggs might be on thin ice.
The Cowboys "were not happy" with Diggs' rehab approach since getting hurt last season. With that in mind, it's not exactly a surprise the ailment is lingering. Regardless, the one-time All-Pro's "new" malady "is serious," putting his 2025 playing status in "danger." Yet, notably, Dallas has a potential out of his deal this offseason. If the Cowboys want to, they can cut Diggs and shed his lucrative $19.4 million average annual salary from their payroll. Doing so would stop the financial bleeding at roughly $33 million, leaving behind a $12.75 million dead cap hit. While it's not an insignificant amount of money, Dallas has an opportunity to cut its losses rather than committing further to the defensive back.

DO IT!

Minimum 8 month recovery, so may be Aug-Sept...but that's with a good rehab, and Diggs has already proven he doesn't take rehab seriously. Cutting him might gain some legs...

He could be gone. Look what they did to Amari Cooper. They could use the money to sign Bland I suppose. Problem is they only use the draft and the don't have enough draft picks to fill all the holes they will have in 2025.

Dan Campbell continues to just make horrible game management decisions. It almost seems like he just gets off on being known as the guy who takes chances and puts it above what's best for his team. It's just reckless and stupid. It's so hard to recover an onside kick and there was no reason for it at that point in the game.

So this summer, Tua, Trevor Lawrence and Dak all got between $53-60M per. Would anyone here give Purdy $60M per if you were the Niners? I would not

Heres the thing - if Dak plays out this year without a contract and becomes a FA , what would he get even after the injury. ???

At least $60M. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer really, it's just a Damn hard question. I kind of think the Jags, Fins and Cowboys would all have gone the other way if given a do over, in part because of injuries but injuries are part of it. To me, Purdy is exactly like the Dak deal. Without all their weapons due to injury, they suck. If they give him the bag, they will be purging a lot of talent. I don't think he elevates them

if they are considered a franchise QB.
The're getting paid!
This is the way of the NFL.

So you are down with giving Purdy $60M and saying goodbye to either CMC, Warner, Deebo, Kittle or Trent Williams? I get what you are saying, just my opinion, but I would keep all those guys and draft another QB. They made Super Bowls with Jimmy G and Mr Irrelevant

Then there would be takers if we were to try to trade him.

I think one factor for the Niners could be that they likely have a top 10 pick. I'm sure the Cowboys figured they would be picking late 20's when they resigned Dak

I dont think any NFL player is worth 60 mil a yr.
but this is the way the NFL is. So that changes nothing. He will get paid. This I can guarantee.
FYI I said last year Deebo will be gone before next year.
If they are being smart with how to replace people Not just their talent level. Purdy & Williams would be safe. BTW I thought Williams just redid his deal so he isnt going anywhere already.
Would I want to keep CMac. Sure, but he is showing wear & tear this year & that doesnt usually get better at his age. So if I lost him while they were showing the back ups were being successful. This is doable.
Warner. While I would want & try to keep him. The Niners always find new great talent at the LB position. So if need be. That position can be replaced. I dont see Kittle going anywhere. Also dont see him fighting for the top dollar. Think he will retire a Niner.
All pro lineman & Franchise QBs will always get resigned. To hard to take a chance at replacing. Even if the team over pays for them.

If the team paid top dollar for all these other guys & ended up with a dud at QB all the other guys pay is going to be a waste anyways.
So Franchise QBs will always get paid. This is just the way of things.
I dont get mad at teams for doing it. Now as we (fans) nick pick. We can say if I had to pay a franchise QB I would rather pay this one over that one, & we can be bummed that isnt the case. Because we (whichever team) only have one to choose from to pay. So they will pay them.
