His rookie contract is over. He restructured about two years ago when Reggie Bush was signed. (Hence all the dead money. He's Detroit highest defensive cap hit next year no matter where he plays.) But there was no extension.

He signed a 5 year deal after being drafted in 2010. Im not really sure void means anything other than end.

Suh has the option of voiding it or not. Is that not the same as opting out? Semantics.

I guess I never saw where he voided anything is all.

He's not under contract and Detroit's Front Office can't manage money. So unlike most every player of merit coming off their rookie deal, he very well may end up being a FA.

From the Lion board.

" There is actually another year on Suh's contract, for $3.5 million. Only thing is, its a player option and voidable by Suh".

"Which he can void, and absolutely will, five days after the Super Bowl. So the Lions have until Feb 6 to get a deal done without a bidding war. I kept saying March 2 as the date we had to get a deal done because its the deadline date for the tag but I was wrong. After Feb 6th they cant negotiate with him until FA begins.

If resigning Suh is priority #1 then we sure aren't acting like it? :L "

You saw the article about the contract being voided, did you think the Lions voided it?

broncosmitty, I'm pulling for the Lions. I hope they beat out the Packers for the division next year. If I got Suh contract details wrong, it wasn't on purpose or wishing bad luck on the Lions.

I feel like Detroit owes the Hawks something lmao. All those players that played for Seattle then go to the Lions. Time for a little talent coming back the other direction :P

Money's great but I wouldn't sacrifice being able to touch my toes for the rest of my life for any amount of money if I already had more than I knew what to do with. It would be great to have him back but as far as sorting out long term deals this would be the best off season to clear his cap numbers. Shame to see him go but if he isn't physically able to do it anymore then he should just hang them up. He got his money and his ring.

No Seahawk fan will fault him for retiring, if that is what he does.

As long as he's retiring for medical reasons and not because he's unwilling to play for this team again I think everyone would understand and still hold him as one of the all time great RB's for our team.

The longer Lynch goes without communicating his true intentions for 2015 or the more talk/rumors of retirement, the more likely the Hawks are to come to the table with more $$ to influence the decision. It's just good business on Lynch's part. I really doubt he's retiring.

Mike Rob says now he thinks its likely Marshawn will decide he is healthy enough to return, but he and others are quick to point out even his close friends don't necessarily know what Lynch will ever do.

I doubt we get the answer either way shortly. It will be a while before we hear his response.

i hope the seahawks front office isn't incompetent enough to let 1 guy hold them hostage for too long when a bunch of other important decisions need to be made regarding their cap space and team for 2016.

these decisions need to be made quickly.

Hopefully he doesn't take too long in making his decision as the team will need to adjust if he retires.
I think Seattle has been pretty good to Marshawn so I hope he understands that if he bails out, the earlier we know about it the better we can plan for football without him.

Lynch being Lynch, will wait until after the draft IMO. I'm leaning towards thinking he'll be back, mostly because it just so hard to walk away from some thing you love doing.
