Where do we have to go to get away from the blackout? Buying a ticket just isn't in the budget for me after Christmas. Is Springfield outside the blackout area?
Tough call..... I think you would need to get 100 or more miles outside of Cincinnati to escape the blackout. That's a lot of gas and whatever food/drink you order wherever you find yourself.
BTW -- It will sell out. The local CBS needs that game to be broadcast in the tristate area. There is a TON of money to be made by broadcasting locally.
The ticket sales do not reflect a lack of interest in the Bengals..... I'd say that interest is probably higher than it's been in years. We have an exciting team and there are plenty of locals on the bandwagon. The issue is money. Mike Brown has been selling tickets at 40-50 dollars a pop for regular season games. The NFL mandates that the playoff tickets be 100 bucks. That's a big expense for folks that are dealing with winter bills and still finding spare change to pay off holiday travel/gifts/expenses.
I agree with all this, but I heard tonite on WLW there are still about 8000 tickets left. Thats about an 800k layout for some local company or rich benefactor. I could step up and spend the money for a ticket, but like many others in my position it just wouldn't be the responsible thing to do. I'm really not sure they'll get it done this time.
8000 tickets to sell in less than 5 hours, it's going to be blacked out.
lexington, dayton, and cincinnati are blacked out, so you can go to louisville or columbus, or just go on that one website ("one less than second row" sports dot eu)
They'll get the extension until Friday, but I don't see it selling out either.
There just milking ticket sales for as long as possible before announcing the black out lift. It's a certainty.
