so why play KC if you are going to sit all of his weapons and his protectors? Their would be a greater chance that he will get hurt. Right? No starters should play at all.

he has played without williams before and he survived

I would love to beat Dallas but you absolutely cannot play the starters in a meaningless game and risk a injury for the playoffs

You play KC because if we have learned anything about him this year, it is that he is a rhythm player. When he is in rhythm, he is sharp. But when he gets out of rhythm, he makes poorer throws. You give him a couple of series to keep sharp. Max protection, simple, quick passes and one or two longer patterns. But what we really need to do is work on that running game.

JMO but I am not a big fan of resting guys. If you have a key player who has been playing at 70% maybe you give a guy or two like that the game off but .... well it doesn't really matter. Gruden and McCloughan will figure it out.

Just an FYI.

Cousins is 13 passes away from most passing att in a season for a Redskins QB.

Cousins is already the single season record holder for most comp in a season

Cousins is 119 yards away from most passing yards in a single season

Cousins is 5th for most TD passes in a single season with 26. Sonny J is #1 with 31. Joey T is #2 with 29 and Ryp and Sonny J are tired at 28

In a 12 game or more games played season. Cousins has the 2nd highest QB rating ever by a Redskins QB at 99.2. Griffin's 102.4 in 2012 is the team record.

Jordan Reed is 93 yards away from a 1,000 yard receiving season.

Only 6 OLs have surrendered less sacks then the Skins OL of 26.

Oh, almost forgot.....while Reed's 11 TD catches rank as 5th most in a single season by a Redskins player. All four of the players ahead of him have 12 TD catches.

Just goes to show how good those guys that threw 50 TDs or better were/are.

It feels weird saying this but I might rest them. And I'm not sure because I've always just been thrown off by that general idea. But an injury to somebody like Trent in this game would be catastrophic and I don't think there's any evidence that playing that week keeps you sharper.

I'd rest only those players that are banged up and could really benefit from the week off.

Trent and Breeland were supposedly only cramping.

More concerned by Moses, who could benefit from a bit of rest on that ankle.

Also Goldson and his ribs and Hatcher with his knees.

I think that if someone is gimpy, you rest him. Maybe pull Cousins at the half. But remember, this isn't the preseason with an 80 man roster. We only get to dress 46 players. Some starters will have to play even if we do decide to rest "everyone".

Do we sit guys for this game? Unless they need to sit for health reasons, no we dont rest healthy players.

Do we go into this game with a measured approach?? Yes we do. Playing sound fundamnetals football, and staying sharp should be what this game is about. Damn the score because aside from the whole must beat Dallas thing, this game really means nothing.

How pissed would we all be if we won the game, but lost a critical player in the process??

treat it like the 2nd preseason game. Rest starters who are at risk of further injuring their current injuries. If Trent williams can't go then you start colt mccoy.

Quick question.......does this say more about the long sorrid history of the position here or the greatness of Kirk?

While I'd love to rest everyone, this is probably the main reason, and best argument, as to why we can't. We just don't have enough players to go around to give everyone a game off. Assuming everyone will be evaluated accordingly and the team will do what's best.

Really don't want to see multiple depth guys coming in which could possibly lead to an injury to a starter we can't afford. If the OL starts to come out, you have to take Kirk out as well.

It says we haven't had a good QB since the league became pass happy. That is not quite fair to Griffin, he was good in 2012 but between him and Alf they put up a lot of yards running the ball. This years run game has been bad so Kirk had to throw more if they were going to win.

If this was a perennial seasoned playoff team then yes, knowing that they will be facing opponents with winning records coupled with their own fragile, luke warm (at best) momentum going in, you have to play them all just to keep that up and work on things that hopefully puts you on track to finally win one against better teams. ( meaning those with winning records)

I think it's a combination of our historic run of not having a franchise QB, along with the evolution of the way the game is played. Does your team pass to set up the run or run to set up pass? Do you play game manager and let your dominate D control the game? Or go air raid and try to outscore your opponent. Couple that with our franchise being looked at negatively due to laughable FA signings or questionable back office decisions, and it becomes tough to compete against top caliber franchises who have a leg up.
