The only thing the Beatles had over the Stones was Paul's unsurpassed ability to come up with melodies and it was considerable. His lyrics have always been mostly junk though. Lyrically the Stones were much more interesting, relevant and compelling. It isn't even close, imo. The Stones were also the better band as an instrumental unit. What can I say.. I was always a Stones guy.

No, PW is a 2012. Likely not offered on a 2020.

My daughter purchased a 2020 Audi A4 and it has no CD option.

Ah, thought you were talking about a brand new ride. Seems like most Dodge products phased them out around 2014.

Love 'em both. If you're counting George Martin as a Beatle, their songwriting is superior musically. His input and influence should not be undersold. Better instrumentally? With Mick Taylor, sure, but he wasn't around all that long. Brian Jones was creative and a multi-instrumentalist, but not really an accomplished player. Factor in that Paul is a solid guitarist as well and it's more even than you think. Even Ringo is underrated.

Could never afford it new...

I went as new as I could afford last year with the 2017 Challenger with about 14K mi. Still not used to that 8 speed auto though. At least I didn't go with the Mustang and it's 10 speed auto. During the test drive it never seemed stable in one gear.

If I was forced to pick only one band as the all time best, I would pick Pink Floyd hands down.

2012 was still over $50K. But really low mileage. 35K miles.

That's fair, but I'm not referring to their individual instrumental proficiency. I'm not qualified to assess that, though I'd maintain Paul was a better bassist that any of the Stones were on their instruments and Charlie was a better drummer than Ringo. But I'm talking about their sound as an instrumental unit playing together, which admittedly is highly subjective.

Tough to evaluate the Beatles in that measure, as they became basically just a studio band midway through their career.

Other than that, you'll probably see a lot of generational choices, though I can think of a couple that should be near the top. Zeppelin (there's only 2 songs of theirs I don't like).
By "don't like" what you mean is they are not as good as other Zep music, but on any given day they are still better than most.

Watching a Pink Floyd special the other night it and struck me.. has there ever been another group that had been kicking around for several years, putting out an album a year with middling success, who all of the sudden turned into the biggest group in the world overnight?

Hard to beat The Eagles as the best American band.

Funny thing about Bob Dylan is he would get booed off the stage in one of those American Idol type shows, yet he is far more successful than anyone off that show will ever be. And, I do prefer his sound to those like Steve Perry, Tom Jones, Neil Diamond,, guys with legit vocal ability, hmmmm?
Aerosmith, Bob Seger and the silver Bullets, CCR, lynyrd skynyrd...No, it's pretty easy to top the eagles.
