these two schools have a combined 10-16 conference record, 20-20 total record

i just remember a lot of talk from the b12 homers that these were good additions and that they would be competitive in the conference

TCU was a huge mistake as they add nothing from a market standpoint.

I have no problem with the WVU addition. You had to expect them to be bad after losing their best offensive players from last year.

I am surprised that TCU dropped off. They were really good, like national title picture good for years before joining the big12. you would think joining a BCS conference they would continue to at least maintain their status amongst the top. But they have tanked. Gary Pattersen probably should have left when his name was hot.

The combined wins of Utah and Colorado 5-19

Overall wins 13-24

So, I am not sure what the point is of judging an experiment by 1.5 years for any conference.

Before Utah's win last week vs Stanford, both the Utes and Colorado could see the door for all I care. But Utah win over Stanford gave them a little respect of welcome to the PAC, Colorado can still GTFO

Wooo, in 2011, all the disney Big 12 posters wanted to dry hump TCU and WVU all day long, every day. You could say, they were pimping them.

tcu/wvu were football only moves. that was the purpose of their addition to the conference because these moves make absolutely zero sense from an academic or market standpoint.

utah/colorado were brought in because they were flagship landgrants with solid academics, and good markets. colorado is aau and academically is the 6th best school in the pac. they are two natural pairs who added a ccg & massive tv contract to the pac. the pac won when they added them, by no means were these moves dependent on these schools bringing competitive football to the conference. these are athletic moves but they are made by the academia's who actually run the school.

edit: and fyi horns you have zero right to talk about this until you own up the the colorado alumni stat that i totally busted you on.

Agreed. Almost every team that has switched leagues recently has had some growing pains, and college teams completely turn over every four years, so most teams go through cycles.

Let's ask the OP if the ACC thinks they made a mistake adding Syracuse? He might change the subject to basketball, though...

aggies and Missouri leave the Big 12, and they get better.

TCU and WVU come to the Big 12, and they get worse. Hmmm...

Also, TCU has been without its qb last 2 years now and has had some bad breaks. WVU is in a rebuilding year, but they did underperform last year.

I'm gonna tell you what everyone else in the Big 12 has known for years now: It's hard to win in this conference.

sorry but when syracuse got added, that move wasnt justified based on syracuse being a football powerhouse. but tcu/wvu were.....and now that their football isnt doing too well......

i think calling them busts is a legitimate argument

TCU's results don't surprise me ... They were good against inferior competition. WVU does surprise me. Didn't see their drop off coming.

and i dont think neither program has a bright future

tcu is stuck having to outrecruit a bunch of very strong regional programs

wvu is a florida based school thats now an outlier in a texas based conference

1. syracuse has had 36 straight winning seasons
2. in college basketball regular season records dont count for nearly as much as in FB.
3. uconn did that in the BE and still won a natty
4. syracuse's move was as much based on markets, academics, geography, & cultural fit as it was about athletics
