So far I got to give it to the Jags.

Bortles is a damn good QB, and being a local boy he will help them fill that stadium. Got to give it to my unofficial AFC team. Smart move by the Jags... now they just need a WR or two, a RB.. hell they need alot. But its a start.

I think the Raiders getting Mack at #5 may be the steal of the round. We'll see how the round finishes up.

GUys,, ,I didnt say the best pick. I said the smartest. taking into account not only the football aspect, but the butts in the seat aspect as well. Im in central Florida. I know the Jags needed not only some one to play the position, but some one the local fan base would get behind. Bortles was the logical choice for both.

he could be another gabbert. Unknown until late. Not sold that he is the best QB in the draft. Maybe a reach. Possibly could have traded down to get him

Being in Central Florida, I think he will have a much bigger impact than Gabbert. If you live in Florida, you follow four college teams... Gators, Canes, Seminoles, and the UCF Knights. Short of drafting Tebow as a rookie, this is the next best thing the Jags could do to boost their failing fan base at home. And I think Bortles is a better QB than Gabbert.

I will give u that. Bottles is much better than gabbert. Only central Florida game I've watched was their bowl game against a sub par d. I like bortles but he's not a sure thing and with as shitty of a team the jags have I think bpa was the way to go and for me that was Mack. Maybe the jags thought bortles was a better player than Mack and if so then good luck to them, maybe that was a great pick

Nope... still think for what a team needed over all, at the time of the pick, it was the smartest pick they could have made. Again not the best pick of any team in the round. But for the Jags, and up to that point it was the smartest pick in my opinion.

I do see your line of thinking shark, if the jags really see bortles as their fanchise QB then they have to take him. I'm not completly sold on him and the jags have been wrong before with leftwich and gabbert. But good luck jags and bortles, nothing against either of you

Smartest first round pick went to the Houston Texans.

They didn't overthink the pick and reach for a QB. They took what was the BPA by far.

The Jags made the move that they needed to make. There was no certainty that Bortles would be along later. I like their pick.

I personally would go with the CJ mosely pick for Baltimore. He was a BPA and can fill a great role

Smartest 1st round pick might have been Atlanta.

Why didn't the Jags just take Buffalos trade offer that they gave to Cle? There was no way Bortles was going in the top 9. They could of had Bortles plus a 1st next year. I guess they were worrying about Minn at 8.

I would be careful throwing around that 2.0 label GK.. .as we might have one of those on our roster after all.

I like the Steelers pick, they need corners but I don't know that any in the class are "elite" so they get a speed LB that can get to QB's quick and help the corners they have already PLUS it may end up being a blessing when it's time to chase Manziel around in Cleveland now.
