True. Tell me this, how was Fowler who is a Olb at the top of the board when at the time we had Galette under contract. Or was that after. I'm not sure. So are you saying the paea and pot roast signing had nothing to do with the draft?

Galette was signed in late July.

I'm sure they factored in but I think it's less about that and more about Scots board, how he evaluated talent, listed them, how other teams chose and the fact no one called for the option to trade up when we were on the clock.

IMO the Paea signing at the time was done b/c he didn't think Williams would be there at #5. Williams was projected to go #1 overall if you remember.

You are still pining over a kid who has toatally Dominated with .5 a sack?? Really?? Come on man, we made the right choice for the team AND got the better player. Scherff wasnt made a Guard because he couldnt play tackle. Its obvious we put the best five players on the field to start the season which ANY smart coach would do draft position be damned. Scherff was moved inside because LONG at the time wasnt ready to start. And he likely still wouldnt not be starting if not for injuries along the line. Williams is this years Cameron Jordan.

im not trying to start problems. Im just saying our future would have been better if we took Williams at #5. Lets hope Scherff develops into a pro bowl OG.
Well it's a bit early for all this comparison and forecasting. But even if Williams does well...if Scherff does too it's a win/win for both teams.

I agree Cali. Shark you are way off. Scherff was made a guard b/c he was getting embarrassed at tackle in training camp. Moses stepped up big time and took the RT job. Scherff was then forced into the RG role. Did you really think Scherff wasn't going to start this year after been selected #5 overall? lol.

Ribeye must have beaten out Brian this week. Hope he's got his snaps better under control. He played much better outside that.

LOL. Sure - no doubt folks here would have done a better job with the draft than SM - whatever. Wow Shark - didn't realize that Williams has had such minimal impact thus far. Is he hurt? Also - who cares that he was projected to go # 1. First of all that is not by current NFL GMs and secondly there are tons of guys who were projected or selected that high who go on to become busts.

IMO you can't have enough talent on the O line. Did some folks forget how bad the O line has been in the recent past? The team is always within a few injuries and other factors of this area becoming a problem again so you always need to improve this area. They will no doubt continue to also build up the defense - they will be fine.

Brian is just not ready yet. Ribeye caused another false start last week. I don't think its a talent thing that Ribeeye is still starting. Brian probably doesn't know all the line calls yet.

Perhaps. Jay did say he was brought in more for depth today but that could very well be coach speak.

Once again dude, you put your BEST 11 on the field. The Skins have given up a whopping 12 sacks the entire season. Thats #2 in the league for pass protection. Now to put that into perspective, the supposed BEST O-line in the league right now has given up 20 sacks.

And to top it off, NOTHING Williams has done this season warrants the whole, we should have picked him over Scherff line you are towing. But tell me, aside from being young and over projected in the draft, has Williams done to have you so convinced we made a mistake?? Hell I would expect him to at minimum be some where in the top performers for ROOKIE D-lineman based off of how awesome you apparently think he is. But seriously.. Chris Baker.. our BACKUP has just as much production as Williams does as a starter.

Williams has stepped up big time when Richardson was out. You don't judge a dlineman just by sacks. I never said mistake. I said our future could have been better. If you don't want to admit that Scherff got abused at tackle in training camp that's fine. He is a guard and hopefully he is a great guard for us. But you have to think that the SM gave up on Long and Moses by selecting Sherff.

You would have to think that SM intentions at draft time was to start Scherff at RT.
