Not a chance. Very common for a vet player to hold out right before or during camp. He would lost a lot of money. He is getting past his prime so sitting out a year and losing a step isn't going to gain him any more money. He has all the money he needs at this point. Simmons also doesn't strike me as a guy who will play a ton of years. He already has declined a bit and he is a very smart man who loves to help the community. I think he will get out at the right time but he won't sit out a year and return the following.

I mean as much as we all love Simmons for his leadership he was not playing anywhere near his contract on the field. Still a good player and a great leader but dude isn't even an elite safety. Good S for sure but he has declined. Business wise it was the right move. He wasn't worth his contract. There is a reason he isn't getting great offers right now but his leadership is elite.

We can always say Justin Simmons was a great Bronco on and off the field and when his career is over I suspect we will see a lot of him around Mile High. Much like we do with Terrell Davis, Eddie Mc, Rod Smith, Atwater, etc.

Remember we gave Abrams-Drainen #31. Not a total slam the door on a Simmons return but an obvious sign that it is very unlikely and nothing has been talked about in terms of a return up to the point of a week after draft when rookies were assigned numbers. Now if things change obviously I am sure we would give Simmons #31 back but sorta tells me it is unlikely.
