Thought he had a torn groin or something.

He won't be ready to play this year if what I'm hearing is correct; but I'd give him a call in the offseason.

He was cleared to resume "football activities" on or around yesterday and is expected to begin working out for teams "in a couple of weeks," according to his agent. He's currently 304 lbs and is working on his conditioning.

Oh. Thanks for the clarification; I must've heard wrong...

Ok, then I'd be extremely happy if the Niners signed Ratliff. With his experience in the 3-4, he could provide the depth the Niners desperately need right now. He might even be enough to make me forget about Richard Seymour (although I'd rather have Seymour).

We need to see less Jerod-Eddie & less Dobbs on the field IMO (Dobbs' good game against the Titans notwithstanding).

Wonder how much he'd cost...

Ex-Cowboys DT Jay Ratliff may not be able to play for a few weeks. but he has a deal. A 1-year deal with the #Bears, per source.

:(

Maybe it was too much to hope. I'm still a bit worried about the DL depth even with Tank & Dial back.

My biggest worry for the entire team is actually Ray McDonald. I don't want the Niners to have to rely as heavily on him as they have in the past if his torn biceps affects his play like the same injury (I think it was the same injury) affected JSmith last postseason. And s much as I love Tank Carradine's play, he can't replace McDonald as a rookie IMO. And even if he could, the issue of depth would remain.

Depth at NT is a big issue too. This is why I've been so adamant about signing Richard Seymour. He could provide depth at both positions.
