Héctor Gómez of Z101 Digital reports that "talks are intensifying" between the Nationals and Juan Soto on a long-term contract extension.
Gómez, who has nailed a ton of reports involving players from Latin America, says the Nats have offered Soto a whopping 13-year, $425 million deal -- an increase of $75 million from the team's previous offer of $350 million. Soto is represented by the Boras Corporation and there's a thought that he might ultimately aim to test free agency after the 2024 season, but $425 million would be a whole lot of guaranteed money for him and Boras to pass on here in the young slugger's age-23 campaign. Soto has averaged 34 home runs and 103 RBI for every 162 games played since breaking into the majors in 2018 and currently holds a career .957 OPS.
