Draft Jerry Jeudy from Alabama next year and move on. Maybe he breaks out. We'll see.

I think there's very little chance they pick it up. Remember, it's for 2020, and it's for 9.3 million. Hard to see him being worth it - I hope he proves me wrong.

I think that they pick it up as a message to JD that they still believe in him and want everything that he has this year. Remember guys, the deadline is Friday!

Sucks they have to make the decision now but if that's the way it is then I say no way too.

Can we finally put a stick in the whole Scot M. debacle and conclude that his tenure was a complete disaster? His drafts were terrible and his FA pickups even worse. I believe Dox and Scherff are the only players who remain from 2 draft classes and when you take a guard at 5 well that's about as safe of a pick as you will ever see so little credit for that.

But it has been 3 years and it's time I admit that was the better pick than Williams.

He had "mixed results" - to be charitable, and the last 2 (or 3? I've lost track) drafts seem to be significantly better. What's up DGF.

Well there's a name from my first days of message board posting, January 2000. Good to see you again old man.

I think "mixed" is charitable. He makes Vinny look like Bobby Beathard. His FA signings were horrible, not sure any of them worked out and that's pretty hard to accomplish. When you have 1 draft pick still on the team that kind of says it all.

Ben Standig reported the Skins have told Doctson they are NOT picking up his option.

In other shocking news, Morgan Fairchild decided not to marry me.

But hey, aside from his drafts, free agent signings... trades (or lack thereof)... um, drinking problems, and various other issues, I'd argue he was perfectly fine. Good to see you too bro. Better old than the alternative... unless there's more than one alternative.

$10 million was too much to pay Doctson for his 5th year option.

If its for 2020 does that mean he'll be a Redskin for the 2019 season. Or will he get cut? As it stands at this moment though. As he hasn't done it in the last 3 seasons. I see very little chance Doctson does something by Friday that would merit the Skins paying him 9.3 million. An 81 rec, 1100 yards, 13.5 ypc, 8 TDs type season would've gotten him that 9.3 mill and more. Those numbers over an injury plagued 3 seasons not so much.

Advertised as a skywalker, Doctson did display that trait a few times in the last 3 years. But wasn't he also supposed to be a very good to great hands pass catching WR as well? At present he's the literal 50/50 with 81 rec on 162 targets.

Now on to phase 2 of the question. What team signs Doctson after the Skins 86 him and he turns out to have a couple good seasons and a half-ass decent career?

I'll co-sign Scotty Mac being a shitty GM. And yeah, he was better than Bruce Allen, I think, but his sign career STers to be starters phase of the Scotty Mac Era is on a loop in my head right now.

Yeah, Scherff was a better pick than Leonard Williams. But there have only been 3 OGs drafted higher, as high and close to as high as Brandon was at #5. Jim Parker and John Hannah are first time ballot Hall of Famers. The other, Quenton Nelson, gave multiple media heads, a whole buncha Colts and non-Colts fans woodies he was so nasty at times last year. Picking Schreff wasn't a bad pick, it wasn't a great pick either.

Good to see you again Breeder. This was my position all along, for a guard to be picked at 5 he has to be John Hannah. As good as Scherff has been he is not trending towards that level. But in looking back at the draft the argument can certainly be made that he is a better player than those picked right after so there's that.

Doctson is under contract this year. The Redskins can resign him this season or he becomes a FA. The 5th year option was $10.3 million.
