How about allow everyone to have the same practice time, regardless of a bowl.

Bowl should be a reward. Win more than .500 of your games and you qualify. This .500 shit needs to go. I understand the need for more practice time because it helps teams get better and teams that just suck all the time continue to lose practice time, well lets get rid of that right now. Everyone should get equal practice time. That will create better teams if it truly makes a difference.

Not for all those that you listed.

All of them but Oregon St needed an FCS win to become bowl eligible.

Oregon St lost to an FCS team, but managed to eke out 6 wins anyway.

In 2013 ODU was FCS in football. They played in the Colonial Athletic Association.

They became FBS Independent in football on July 1st 2014.

Just for shitz-n-giggles I looked to see which teams got into (2013) bowls with only 6 wins, what their conference record was, and who they played OOC to get that coveted 6th win.

Washington St - (4-4 in PAC), Beat (FCS) Southern Utah. They also beat Independent Idaho (1-11)
Oregon St - (4-4 in PAC), Lost to (FCS) Eastern Washington, Beat Hawaii (1-11)
Pittsburgh - (3-5 in ACC), Beat (Ind) Old Dominion,
Syracuse - (4-4 in ACC), Beat (FCS) Wagner
North Carolina - (4-4 ACC), Beat (Ind) Old Dominion
Georgia Tech - (5-3 ACC), Beat (FCS) Elon, Beat (FCS) Alabama A&M
Mississippi St - (3-5 SEC), Beat (FCS) Alcorn St,
Rutgers - (3-5 AAC), Beat (FCS) Norfolk St

NOTE: Georgia Tech actually had 7 overall regular season wins. However, only one non-FBS win can be used for bowl eligibility.

Look at the ACC schools that squeaked in.

Reference SU, they were playing much better at the end of the season than in the beginning. And they beat Minnesota in the Texas Bowl. Minnesota had a better record than SU...beating both PSU and NW...teams SU lost to prior to conference play.

Minnesota also beat Nebraska in Lincoln. Not a great win, but a decent win none the less.

Id be fine with it, heck these Chik fil a games to begin the season are the new non Jan bowl games anyway IMO. I like them much better regardless of who is playing in them.

But for the record WVU/Bama will be the best one of all times. E HI 5. Bammers!

I wonder what your opinion will be after the game?

Including today, there are 35 days until the 2014 season starts, 36 days for the good games to begin.

I hope I did my math right.

OD was FCS transitional last year. It's a 2 year process, 1 year they are mostly FCS with a few FBS mixed in, the next year it's mostly FBS with a few FCS mixed in. That's how I understand it anyway, I have to keep adding these teams and had to figure out when they needed to be added. Last year no OD, this coming year OD.

But it's possible they could still count as FBS to be bowl eligible to get FBS on their schedule. I'm not sure there.

Yes. All of Old Dominion's statistics went into the FCS books in 2013.

They did not become FBS until July 1st 2014.
