Get Reed now!
Of all those players mentioned, he has the best chance to be a keeper next season in your league.
Pick up Reed and drop Beltran?

You can drop just about anybody for Reed. He might be your 2nd best keeper.
Maybe June. Does not really matter though. He has the tools to succeed right away and your team is not winning. I would consider sacrificing active spots to accumulate more players like Reed, whether via pick up or trade.
Astros Reed right?
Is this the league where you keep 8? Besides Reed and the others Tlance mentioned, are guys like Trea Turner and Jose Berrios available? I'd be jumpin' on 'em if I were you. Another one to keep an eye on is Tim Anderson from the White Sox, although he's a bit farther down the road. And if anyone drops Buxton, I'd grab him and hold on if I could do it.
Yes this is the 8 keeper league. So I would assumed Reed from the Astros is the guy I want....
Turner is available... can't find Berrios
Continuing to roster and draft veterans is a waste of time because your keeper core was awful
The only pitching prospects I would even remotely consider keeping are big, LH, flame-throwing guys owned by NL West teams.
So that lets out Giolito, Glasnow and Berrios to name a few. It would be a real shame to pass those guys up.
I disagree with the bold.
I'm assuming his league allows you to trade draft picks, and if so, he should be drafting a mix of prospects and current players/veterans that he can trade during the season for future draft picks.
It could be, or it could be a blessing. For every Clayton Kershaw, there're dozens of Phil Hughes'. I like to stack the odds in my favor.
I agree with this!!! @Chef99 and me had an epic discussion about this somewhere else... The thing about veterans is that someone might trade for their name... Teams that are competing tend not to like to contend with unproven players no matter how well they are doing... and if a veteran is doing well, you can get so much more than JUST Reed or Turner(who are both great prospects)...
Hey, to each their own. It's what makes the world go round.

Of course, but with the attrition rate of prospects and particularly pitchers, I like to take the surest shots I can find.
I'll agree there is merit in trading name value if you can get away with it. I'd like to see how much he can get for Beltran, tho. Seriously, would you trade Turner or Reed for Beltran in a keeper? It would have to be an end-of-season scenario with you needing that veteran bat to give you the chance to win it all.
