He played receiver at Stanford before he converted to a DB so it's not that big of a stretch. I wonder how much of this might be because Sherman was potentially lobbying for it. Especially for this next game. Sherman would love to complete a pass against Peterson or God forbid he got a TD on Peterson. Peterson would never hear the end of it.

Only if injuries hit the WRs.

The old saying goes: "if they had good hands, they'd be receivers".....

I would say his 8 interceptions on very few attempts to his side last year show he does have decent hands. My biggest issue would be the timing side of it between him and Wilson. Especially for the NFL that kind of chemistry takes time and my guess is they don't work on running routes on the sideline. Now I could see a couple of specialty packages put in for Sherman to maybe come in but I would say it would only be a handful of snaps that he would see at WR if there is any truth to this rumor.

In the abstract, it would be fun to see what he could do. With his length he could make a good RZ target, and his size would be an asset on shorter routes and come backs.

All that said, we need him at 100% on defense right now, and short of a decimated receiving corps I'd hate to see him out there on offense.

Might as well. Seahawks need some sort of spark.

In the red zone I'm all for this 100%. We need a guy in there with some size and good hands, which Sherman brings. It also limits the necessity for perfect timing with such a short field.

Good point... A Sherman fade route in the endzone is advantage Sherman.... All for that as well ....

Exactly. If he were to do this, he would only come in for specific situations in which he wouldn't need a lot of timing with Wilson.

meh would you really wanna risk one of your better players getting injured? I would think the guys on defense would put on a target on him :noidea:

He sure has the personality for it.

If he does become a receiver, I'll just wait for the football spike before being in the end zone or the sideline rant.

lol he moved from WR to CB in Stanford so Harbaugh wouldn't have as much say when he could play or couldn't play as Harbaugh was hands off on the defense. In his time as a WR at Stanford he had 81 Rec for 1,340 yards, 7TD and a 16.5 ypc average. He got injured and Harbaugh told him to play. Sherman said he couldn't and so after that harbaugh wouldn't even play him when he was healthy. This made Sherman switch to CB so Harbaugh couldn't control his playing time.

This is the beef Sherman has with Harbaugh and the reason he wanted to run up the score on the 49ers.

Exactly this. Throw him in a JJ Watt type of offensive role and I have no problem.

I would love to see it. We really could use a big spark in the redzone.

Not on a regular basis... Just once in a while... We have no receivers to go over the top with right now... Sherman in the redone would almost demand double teams...

We hear the same thing about offensive players. Truth is that anyone with a brain is too concerned about making money and winning games to focus on going out of their way to intentionally hurt someone. If they want to use him on offense, I certainly hope that they wouldn't do it because they're scared.

You obviously didn't watch him play in college, because when he went down at WR it was a pretty big blow and he probably could have made a roster in the NFL as a reception receiver.

That being said, I think it's a bad idea. He hasn't played the position in way too long to have any type of impact. And why risk all that money on him getting one in the ribs?

I still think we're fine with the group of receivers we have. We don't need to move Sherman there only to watch him be yet another guy we can't get the ball to because the offensive line can't keep defenders off of Wilson long enough to find an open man without him having to scramble. I also disagree that we don't have receivers that can get behind a defense. Richardson and Lockette can both do it. The problem, again, is that Wilson isn't getting the time he needs to throw it deep.
