Well maybe clean is the wrong word, but from watching the video a few times I think if Schenn didn't leave his feet someone would have been picking Volchenek's teeth up for the next 10 minutes. I can't speak for Schenn's intent there.

I just don't understand how leading a check with an elbow isn't in the same category as leaving your feet before contact.

Because he didn't lead with an elbow. You are mistaken.

I can't speak to Schenn's intent either, but if it's to avoid hurting the guy, leaping at him isn't the way to go. He could stop, turn, or bear hug him. Leaving the feet is dangerous, which is why it's illegal.

Can't speak to the other hit in question because I haven't seen the video.

Stop. The elbow came up on the follow through and you know it. Go to about 1:04. Timmonen even leans into, I guess trying to brace for impact. Regardless, nowhere near comparable to the other hit.

dude...youre arguing with philthy homers....save it

They would have been better off if Clarkie knocked him out...would have kept him from nailing Hartnell in the 3rd...

How exactly does one go about "leaving his feet" anyway? What is he Mr. Potato Head?

No word on if Shanahan is reviewing the cheap shots the refs gave the Flyers back in the Buffalo game.

I say good hit.

He did not leave his feet prior to the hit. He left his feet after hit was done. Good clean check in my mind

The Clarkson hit was clean. His elbow was down at his side at initial impact. He started the motion of the hit before the whistle was blown.

The Schenn hit was a charge, but not suspension-worthy. He came from too far away to make the hit. Whether or not he left his feet, I can't tell.

"Well, feet, I'm sorry to say it, but this just isn't working out. I'm leaving you."

"Oh yeah? Well good luck walking away without me."
