i'll be honest i was shocked he didnt get a penalty.. even at live speed it looked like he left his feet to me.. and even if he didn't, you don't have to leave your feet to get called for charging.. he took off from near center ice to level a guy at the circles

based on the NHL's history of the result mattering, schenn shouldn't get suspended.

if they actually wanted to get rid of stuff like this, the result wouldn't matter and schenn should get suspended.

i enjoyed the hit though. devil go boom.

at 26 sec mark, you can clearly see,he's up in air on hit.I think this will be a case of ,Flyer be fucked!

This is the first and last time Schenn can ever be compared to 3 Time Stanley Cup Champ, Conn Smythe Winner, Hall of Famer Scotty Mother Fuckin Stevens.

None of those things means that he wasn't dirty.

I'll give you the Kariya hit, that was when he was old and senile and couldn't tell if he had the puck. Other than that, he didn't leave his feet, he hit guys with the puck and punished guys for crossing the blue line with their heads down. But we've had this ridiculous argument so many times that it is what it is. Flyers fans say he was dirty to try and negate the fact that they always have scumbag players.

all due respect, scott stevens was a dirty sumbitch.. the flyers have had loads of them too.. but he was dirty. arguing otherwise is silly IMO

doesn't change the fact that if he were a flyer i probably would've loved him.

Chris Therien (Former Flyer now tv analyst) was on HockeyCentral and he's worried that the game is turning into the 'Ice Capades'.

Disagree but that's fine. If he played today, sure he'd be dirty. Different era, different game. Ronnie Lott would be a dirty player today but since he played in the 80s he's a HOF. Stevens didn't leave his feet, didn't use elbows.

if you're going draw the line and say headshots were clean back then and are now dirty, then sure, he wasn't dirty then but would be considered dirty now

I really am shocked he got a game for that hit. Hope it's a precedent starter...but I think if there's a penalty called on that hit there's no suspension.

I know you aren't allowed to leave your feet, but he actually avoided a more vicious hit by doing so... Looked like his head would have made contact first instead of his shoulder. Leave it be, Sheriff.

Clean? No. Suspension worthy? Heck no. I just don't see it. I thought it was a nasty hit last night, but never saw this coming. Especially in a shortened season. One game translates into a bigger deal.

But Clarkie didn't leave his feet & it looked like a brutal but legal hit. I think leaving his feet is where Shanny's gonna get Schenn. Couldn't find a video of the Clarkson on Timonen hit yet... but here's the pic.

didn't leave his feet, but he lead with his elbow and strangely enough it looked like it hit Kimmo in the head.

If one deserved to be looked at they both did IMO, if one got a suspension they both should since under NHL rules they're both dangerous plays.

OK.... I can agree that Schenn's hit didn't deserve a suspension.

I can't find a video of Clarkie's hit on Timo, but it'll surface sooner or later & we'll get a look at it at speed & slo-mo. I thought Clarkson hit was clean, but I'm a homer. :yahoo:

I am surprised he got 1 game for that, meaning that is way too much.

I actually think both hits were borderline but clean, my point was if you're going to review one borderline hit from a game you have to review both. I'm not saying this was some sort of conspiracy or something more so that any type of dangerous hit should be looked at.

I also think that the league needs to back the fuck off and let guys play, boarding/hits from behind need to go but it's starting to look like they're trying to take hitting out of the game.

Not sure how on Earth you figure Schenn's hit was clean when the Sheriff's video very clearly shows that he left his feet before the hit.

Feel free to disagree about whether it was suspension-worthy, but to argue that it was clean is absurd.

Well maybe clean is the wrong word, but from watching the video a few times I think if Schenn didn't leave his feet someone would have been picking Volchenek's teeth up for the next 10 minutes. I can't speak for Schenn's intent there.

I just don't understand how leading a check with an elbow isn't in the same category as leaving your feet before contact.
