is this for average salary or full contract. if average salary its $7.9 and change. so it would be 2 first round picks as you say. that is very little for a team with as much youth as Philly has to give up. too bad their goalie may be an achilies heal

It will be four 1st round picks for compensation. The aav calculation for offersheets it is total value of the contract divided by a maximum of 5 years.

just a FYI,

Only 5 years is used for finding compensation so the total money averaged out over 5 (being the contract is 5 or longer) determines compensation.

4 first round picks if unmatched.

People are saying on twitter that multi year offer sheet compensation is based on the aav for the first 5 years of the deal

Therefore, It will be 4 first round picks

yes, absolutely.
If the Preds were prepared to throw large coin at Suter, it just goes to Weber now.
Holmgren should get an agent's commission for negotiating Nashville's deal.

How ironic

If the Preds would have given him the $$$ and years last year, and not have the arbitrator award him 7.5 mil, they wouldn't be handing out a king's ransom now to match.

I'd be totally shocked if the Preds didn't match.
As Stew stated 4 late 1st rounders(if they keep finishing near top) is not much. They definately have the dough.

If Poile doesn't match,he's a moron.

I'm personally hoping he's a fucking moron and we get Weber

TSN's Darren Dreger reported the deal early Thursday morning via his Twitter account. He says Nashville was working on a trade and it's believed several deadlines passed before the Flyers grew tired of waiting and Weber -- a restricted free agent -- signed the offer sheet.

Nashville has a week to decide whether to match the offer. If they Predators opt not to do so, they will receive a package of draft picks from the Flyers - the exact composition will depend on the contract's average annual value - unless the teams work out a trade.

Still an option, now that their hand is forced.

I'm trying to go back to bed. More info coming in. Philly, NYR, Detroit and San Jose were big players in Weber trade scenarios

Even more from Dreger:

Its going to be fascinating to see financial terms of Weber's offer sheet. Hearing in one calendar year, he could make $26 mil.

looks like Weber is going to get $24 million in signing bonuses by July 1st, 2013

now the question is does Nashville have the financial capability to shell out $26 million this year

Maybe the Rags were ahead in the trade scenario and Holmgren threw a stick in the spoke. Smart move if so.

ok since Nashville can still work a trade does it have to be with Philly. I would thnk so but if Nashville could trade him to another team it would be hilarious.
