So I'm driving to work this morning and the local radio show shared the San Francisco 49ers reached out to local media and to season ticket holders with an official memo.

  1. Come early.
  2. Wear all red
  3. Cheer loud when on defense.
  4. Try to quiet down when Niners are on offense.
  5. Cheer loud as possible when Seattle is in an offensive huddle.
  6. If Seattle is in a key 3rd down, make as much noise a possible.
Now....I can take this in many directions. But I'll just say this. Isn't this just a wee bit embarrassing? Dare I say...desperate? I mean c'mon! Now the Niner organization needs to teach it's fan base how to behave at a football game and how to dress?

Why this game? Why this point in the season? What kind of organization is being run here?

this is plain sad. :lame:

Funny this is why it's so much better attending Jets game than Giants games. Jets fans, while complete assholes, actually know the game, know when to get loud, there is a certain intelligence to their debauchery. Giants fans are typically older folks, afraid to lose their season tickets that are just happy to be there, bundled in their blankets, with no real concept of when to get loud. Not uncommon to have people tell you to sit down for standing during 3rd down plays.

Good observation by the OP. Of course, most Seahawk fans value anything negative when directed at SF.

Yeah, that's the point. They're having to be taught, in week 14, how to cheer. Kinda pathetic

I don't think they are having to be taught, it's more of a cheerleader approach to me.

Or desperation since 49erland just watched Seattle wip the piss out of New Orleans 2 nights ago. And that Seattle has run the score up on the Niners over the last 2 games.

Locally we all think it's a desperate attempt. And furthermore a reflection of the sad state the Niners are in right now against the Seahawks.

To the contrary it wasn't a DJ. It was an official memo from the Niners organization to the local media. This is what it outlines. And again, the did this just for the Seattle game.

Again...this wasn't a season long thing. It just came out this morning from the 49ers.

So what, NO THE NINERS FANS NEED TO BE TAUGHT HOW TO CHEER AT A GAME?

From an objective perspective, it's hard to argue with this. I sense a real feeling of inferiority and desperation.

Not true, since Seattle has a real 12th man, I pay attention to the crowds when the Hawks are the visiting team and routinely it is very quiet on both sides of the ball in visiting stadiums. However, watch a Seahawks home game, the crowd doesn't even sit down for the majority of the game. Tirico even commented during MNF this week that he "doesn't even know why they have seats, no one uses them!!" In Seattle, the fans know when to cheer and they do it very well, without needing "rules."

This coming from an organization that has won multiple championships. It's kinda sad that they have to put out this memo.

This ones' classic.

"FIRST DOWN CRY - ...When we announce a 49er first down, you come back with "Ahhh-Ooo, Ahh-Ooo, Ahhh-Ooo! This is our celebratory battle cry"

I have a question, what are season tickets like for the 49ers? Is there a decades long waiting list or can you get season tickets whenever? That's the problem with the Giants, they have a season ticket waiting list that's 25 years long or something like that, so nobody gives their tickets up and you wind up with a much older crowd.

Compared to the Jets who do not have a waiting list, fans can get rowdy, if they lose their tickets, oh well just get some more next year.

I kinda wonder if this was put out as some kind of joke to loosen the tension a little. Of course the game no longer have that kind of implications, but both teams still have a lot to play for. So I don't know, this cheer leading tutorial is very odd.
