Illinois' (2-1) Rushing Defense is #17 after three games. However, they have yet to play a P5 team.

Akron (0-3) Lost to Illinois 42-3. Akron Rushing Offense is ranked #129
UConn (1-1) Lost to Illinois 31-23. UConn Rushing Offense is ranked #102
E. Michigan (2-1) Beat Illinois 34-31. E. Michigan Rushing Offense is ranked #115

Walter's spent his 3rd week determined to get the anemic running game going. Does anyone think Nebraska's O-line looked better in the 3rd or 4th Q yesterday? I don't.
Still little to nothing between the tackles and Adrian running for his life after playing two G5's and one P5.
Nebraska's Rushing Offense is #68

Long way to go up-front and Walter's likely works on the run again Saturday.

........

Total Offenses
108. UCONN
118. Akron
82. EMU
62. Nebraska

Illinois's defense is good against bad offenses. Not so good against average offenses.

Right now, Nebraska is an average offense.

I just might be wrong about Corbin getting his 100 yards. The defense is taking pride in shutting down the run game.

S Alabama leading rusher had 37 yards
Colorado leading rusher had 44 yards
N Illinois leading rusher had 43 yards

I like Nebraska to win the game.

Illinois coaching staff is in panic mode. They likely need to go bowling or be unemployed. Lovie's buyout is just $4 million after 2019, then drops to $2 million after 2020, then $1 million after each 2021 and 2022. No matter how Illinois slices it they're paying Lovie $4 million more. Illinois is investing some of that Big 10 money in it's football facilities. They want results.

You can be sure Lovie and crew were counting the G5's Akron, UConn, and Eastern Michigan as 3 of the 6 wins needed.
Instead of needing just 3 more in 9, now they need 4 more in 9.

A lot of that talk we've heard out of Nebraska's locker room over the past 15 years. Definitely over the last 5.

I might have considered taking Nebraska (-7.5), but no way I take them at (-13). The O-line's got far too much work to do.

Yup its a young oline with still a young QB. IMO it will be year four in Frost program will we see the lines really take shape.

The longer it takes, the better chances AM stays for his senior season.

AM has a lot to improve on to be consider a 1st round talent by his JR season. Plus I just see him spending four years at Nebraska. MM had played in a NC game his JR year Nike you was already there playing for NC. MM looked more polished his Soph year. But I agree the longer it takes to develop the oline the longer he stays.

Yeah. He's never gonna look great without a good O-line.

For your enjoyment

Nebraska 42, Illinois 38 POSTGAME

"It took all the way to the Iowa game last year to kill my happiness for the college football season. 4 weeks in this year..."

" was wondering if it is harder to win a game on the road with 3 TDS off turnovers, missed FG, missed PAT, or to lose a game with all those good fortunes at home. Well...."

Their board is really blaming it all on the officiating. Even though Nebraska had way more penalties. Nevermind, that Illinois was 1-11 on third down.

Just beat Northwestern and Nebraska is Illinois State Champs!
