Even when healthy they haven't been good this year. They might have competed for a lower seed with all their horses running but they just aren't very good this year. BY having some injuries, playing badly and getting their fair share of bad breaks has hopefully made them realize they need to retool and not just make short term decisions (Kovalev, Gonchar, etc.).

They have an excellent stable of blueliners on the way up, tonnes of cap space this summer and probably a top 5 pick this year. They should be able to rebuild quickly.

Right now it's Carkner and I don't think it's that close. In his prime Shelley was a pretty good scrapper.

Hopefully we get to see them go tonight.

I don't think it would matter all that much. The reason is that there are too many players underachieving this year.

I mean, when your point leader only has 27 points this late in the season and he's a defensemen...that's not a good sign.
