I like this signing a lot. Mainly because it's at forward where the Sens need the most help. His first game will likely be against the Leafs on Saturday too.

They should also be getting another good forward in the draft so maybe in a couple years the Sens will be back competing for a spot in the playoffs again. Especially since it looks like Spezza is finally making serious strides lately and the goaltending is 100 times better then it has been the last few years.

I think they could honestly compete for a PO spot next year. They probably won't make it but some actual NHL goaltending and getting rid of Kovalev has basically made this team very competitive. The East just doesn't have 8-9 strong teams like the West does. Spots 6-8 seem to be up for grabs most years. A healthy Spezza, Alfie, Regin and Michalek would go a long way. Throw in a 2nd line forward (Murray says he'll target a young one) and the team can compete. In the West they'd be dead, but in the East they might just sneak in.

For the record I'd like to see them go super young next season and get another top 6 pick.
