I'm seriously done with this guy. I don't give a rats ass if dude had a nice run down the stretch of the season and shows some serious promise for the future, but with this standoff with his $$ demands (doesn't sound like he's going to budge an inch), I say Denver just let's him walk. My God......have a good 7-8 game stretch nowadays in the NFL and all of the sudden you think you're top 3 player at your position. Not just the amount of money the greedy shit wants, but what a fat head to go along with it.

In all fairness to him he needs to get the most money he can. It sucks for us as fans, but he deserves it.

He and Wolfe along with Sylvester played a far more crucial role in the defensive success too imo. The key for the edge rushing success is the push from the interior. With out a comfortable pocket to step into, a QB tends to make mistakes. Watch the SB on replay, or any of the play off games. You will see the middle being pushed back significantly. Much of that was Malik and Wolfe. It such an advantage to a defense.

Of course the reality of the hard cap Era is such that it impossible to keep things in tact. If they do let him go, and it looking they may have to, they will need to draft accordingly or a free agent. I personally liked the production I saw from Antonio Smith.

I won't argue that he should get a nice extension, but for him to think he's worth top 5 money at his position after playing half a season of good football is a bit much for me. I think we have enough pieces up front on defense that we'll just fine if he were to be gone, and asking for upwards of $15 mil per is just ridiculous to me. I actually think that Wolfe is a more important piece to our DL, and Sly was really, really starting to play well himself toward the end of the year. We can move Ware, Miller and Barrett around off the edge........screw Jackson.

Several threads about Malik now, but like I said before I would just sign Mario Williams to a 1 year 8 mil deal. He joins his old coaching staff. He already got his big deal with the Bills who will still be paying him. He does well here with great players around him he could strike another decent deal before retirement.

I am big on the Nick Fairley train. Elway loved the kid coming out of college and when healthy he has been a pretty decent player. I think he would thrive in our system not being asked to be the star but a great role player. I think he could come for something like 2-year/$16 million. So half the price of Malik and I think he would give us great production.

Don't be mad, Doc!

We got 4 years of from good to very good to great play from a guy we drafted in the 5th round who got paid peanuts by NFL standards. And now we'll likely get a 3rd round comp next year for losing him.

Best of luck, Malik! And thanks for being a strong contributor to our SB 50 championship!

Crazy to think the Broncos could be getting a couple of 3rd round comp picks next year with possibly losing Oz and Malik. This is just part of winning the Super Bowl though in you lose talent. Almost harder to stay on top than it is to get to the top.

Hell we could end up with 2 3rd rounders and Oz back by then .. QB's make or break in a year quite often..

I have this feeling Beadles might be back soon ..

Have I heard sometime that one team can't get two 3rd round comp picks in one year? I'm not sure, just have this crazy notion. Probably wrong.

I think it is more you can't have more than 4 of them if I remember right. I don't think round matters. Not sure many teams though have had such an opportunity as getting 2 3rd round comp picks like the Broncos might this year. That usually means a team is losing ridiculous talent to even think about having that.

Since we are on the FA topic....The more time goes by,the more I think Oz/Market might just price him out of Denver. What are the odds that.......
1. Denver lets Oz walk and keeps Peyton for 1 more yr and drafts qb in rd 1, keep Simiean
2. Denver lets Oz walk and Peyton, they actually like Simiean more than we think as starter, and then draft qb in rds 1-3, add FA
3. Denver lets both Peyton and Oz walk, keep Simiean and lets him compete with FA acquisition ( RG3,Kap,Daniels,etc ) for starting job and draft qb rds 1-3
4. No way they let Oz walk or keep Manning
Any scenarios I missed?
I know Oz still is not a sure deal by any means, but I sure don`t like the optons out there if he does leave. Getting scary. Maybe Elway thinks Simiean is the next Brees? Either way, Oz gone = GULP????

I mean how many teams are really gonna offer Oz a ton of money?

Most teams in dire need of a QB may be looking to draft one early, the Houston Texans and maybe the Rams are really the only teams that make a lot of sense to me to fork over a chunk of cash to Os and that could happen obviously, but teams like Dallas, Cleveland, San Fran (if they trade Kaep) I don't really look at them as forking over a lot for Osweiler. Maybe I am nuts. Just my opinion. Doesn't mean he won't cost money, but he may not have gops of teams offering him a ton of millions.

Hope your right and he really wants to stay in Denver. Don`t like the alternatives DC :)

I just think with the team we have now with the D we have we are still built to shoot for another title. I want a QB to groom but I don't want to start a rookie QB with our given team right now either. We need someone who can produce and not make rookie mistakes and our D will continue to keep us in games. There are QB's I like in this draft, but most of them will be gone by our first rd pick and after that, someone like Dak Prescott or a project like Cardale Jones is about all I see for a future starter. Few guys like Brandon Doughtery or Brandon Allen I like but they are most likely #2's in the NFL.

Id personally like to sign Os to a 3 year deal. Draft a QB at a good value stand point or sign RG3 to compete with Os.

Cardale Jones is a guy I really question that he has it mentally, but I also think he would be a fun project for Elway to groom.

Dak Prescott is a QB I have liked the last two years mostly because he was my stud in college fantasy football, but while his tools aren't off the charts, he can sit back in the pocket, he has a good football IQ and he is mobile with upside. He has to fix some mechanics, but comparisons to Tebow is just silly.

I like the draft Prescott and keep Oz one best. IMO anyway, Cardale Jones will have to convert to TE ( might be very good there) or give up NFL aspirations. Don`t see him with the mental make up at all. Dak I think has good potential with the right amount of time and coaching.

Prescott is only QB I'd want out of this draft.

Apologies for straying way off topic, but what does everyone think of Connor Cook ?

He has some balls, and can throw on the run .... Not sayin that I don't like Oz, because I really like Oz ...

Just wondering, because of the games I have watched ( which are few ), Cook looks pretty natural out there

He is intriguing. Had some knocks on leadership. Saw interview with him and he disputed that. I think he has better potential than he gets credit for. Wouldn't mind him either.

My sister graduated MSU, so I've seen quite a few Spartan games over the past few years and I like Cook. He's got the size you want, has a big arm, and put up nice numbers in every year he started.

The red flag with him is he was not a captain. Those are presumably voted on by the players.

The fact he is the starting QB and NOT voted team captain is a red flag imo.
