Maybe the Capitals should lock Fleury in 43's basement?!?

Same thing the Pens did to Columbus. Jackets couldn't get to the high percentage areas to get good shots away.

Then, when they pushed it and tried to force their way into those areas, the Pens reversed the puck and beat them on the odd man the other way. It's what they do.

And the few times you get a chance from a good spot, Fleury has gone all gumby and gotten something on the puck. Like a perfect storm.

Excellent strategy and execution by the Pens, hats off to Mile Sullivan

Yeah, I'm not disagreeing. Those didn't back up my hypothesis much.

Just ran a breakdown of the shots per game. Pittsburgh definitely led in blocked shots in games 1 and 2, but it's been pretty even since then.

Yeah, and I don't think I'm really telling you anything you don't already know when I say that you don't want to rely on "well we're giving up a ton of shots but the rate of 'good' shots is low" as a long-term strategy. For starters, all it takes is one bad bounce on a rebound for a "bad" shot to produce a "good" shot anyway.

Yeah, but the Caps have, so not really relevant.

Hence the reason I said:

I didn't see the one from the stands, but I just assumed the shot from the goal crease was Orlov's ;)

Nah... they couldn't get much going so they thought they'd give Holtby a shot. ;)

The Caps are going about this all wrong. It's not the high percentage scoring chances from the danger areas they need to focus on. The Flower is known for giving up howlers - the Caps need to send floaters his way, bad angle goal shots from the goal line and other crap like that. He'll revert back to form if the Caps are disciplined enough to take that approach.

...Little dribblers behind the net he's forced to come out and handle? ;)

Why'd they have to make the 2 day break between game 4 and 5? Now I have an extra day to think about all the potential scenarios and get both sad and excited.

The league knew Crosby would get injured and is giving him extra time to rest and return thus proving everyone's wildest conspiracy theories about the favoritism the league always gives the Pens.
