I think this is pretty lame of the NFL, I am in no way a Seahawks supporter but to deny a team home prime time games just because they had a couple big wins is kind of ridiculous. I thought the NFCCG was very competitive and showed the 49ers starting to adapt to playing up in the Clink even the Saints game in the Divisional round was somewhat competitive.

"The last three times Seattle has hosted a prime-time match-up, the games have been extremely uncompetitive. The Seahawks hammered the divisional-rival 49ers 42-13 and 29-3 in Sunday night games the last two seasons. They also beat the New Orleans Saints 34-7 on Monday night in December."

During the 2 SF games I counted 28 full spins by JB and 12 headsets tossed. Love the animation and passion. He just needs to whack Carrol on the back and run off. See if Petey chases him

Like it or not it's about the money.

When games are blowouts people stop watching, which tends to tick off the advertisers and networks. They don't want to take the risk.

You can get away with that IF said team is popular across the country but when most of the fans of a team are in that market - not so much.

Is it known this was a factor, or is it just this authors conjecture?

I fully realize its a ratings/money decision, it would just erk me if It happened to my team.

Thank you for posting. I was going to but thought the board would jump on me as being a homer and a whiner.

It's not really that big of a deal. But for a Passionate fan base who has felt slighted and disrespected by the East coast bias and has been told to "Win something first then talk"

It's kind of ridiculous right? I mean were the super bowl champs, and half the league has MORE prime time games then us, and whats the stat on how many host more?

Just stupid.

Seems legit. Rams 2 primetime games are at home because we are expected to finish last place

The NFL ain't a charity

I think the most prime time games a team can have in a season is 5 games...So right now Seattle is at 4 games with the NFL able to flex one more. My guess is they kept that extra one because they will want to flex one of the later in the season games. Gives them more options. It is not a slight in any way. If anything this is a compliment to how dominant Seattle has been at home. The NFL is about making money and they realize that Seattle is so good at home that it actually costs them money to host. To me that is the ultimate sign of respect when they just know you are going to blow out teams even the good ones at home. You guys need to stop taking everything so disrespectfully and look at the bigger picture.

Again, does anybody have any evidence this is anything other than conjecture? Seattle gets, what 4 or 5 prime time games? You guys aren't being screwed over, get over your inferiority complex already, you just won the f'n super bowl.

A niner fan starts a thread and it's all good.... Seahawk fan agrees with him..... inferiority complex! stop taking things disrespectfully!

Stop being idiots. If YOUR TEAM was coming off a SB and not getting any PT home games other than the one that they MUST provide, you would be scratching your head and saying it's stupid too. I know you guys like to pretend that Seahawk fans are just so different, but any fanbase would be like "wtf is that about?".

Like I said this is a sign of respect in the NFL knows Seattle home games are boring and fans shut them off early because they become blow outs. When fans shut games off early that means less money. Since the NFL is about making money it makes sense that they chose the games Seattle will be closer in to air during PT.

No, I really wouldn't. If the 9ers just won the SB and got 4 prime time games, 3 on the road, I wouldn't even notice. Seattle always has this weird "were getting screwed" mentality. Must be a symptom of living in a constant downpour.

I grew up and spent my entire life on the West coast, and never heard anybody ever complain about 10am start time games until I met Seattle fans in college. Its just one of many examples I have noticed over time.

Also, I am still waiting for anybody to show its not just something this author pulled out of his ass.

New England has boat raced teams for years at home. They get their 5 PT games a year, 2 or 3 at home.

They also have the bigger fan base and live in a bigger television network. They also weren't blowing out their opponents at home the last 2 years like that of Seattle the last couple of years. They also have had some of the bigger draws for home games (remember home and away games are figured out by a complex math algorithm) such as Indy at home when Manning was playing for them and now Denver at home when playing them.

Also you look at them this year they have 2 at home 3 on the road...not a big difference between 1 and 3 for Seattle. Again most likely the NFL wants to flex one of the Seattle games and it very well could be one of the home games making them dead even with New England.

This blowout excuse is bullshit and everyone knows it. The NFC championship game came down to late in the 4th.

East coast bias. It is what it is. The NY Giants have more primetime games than the Super Bowl champs.

They can slob on everything east of the Rockies all they want. It is what it is.

It's what sells. The NFL is in the business of making money.

It is about population density IMO. The more folks per mile radius, the more viewers, even if the team is a steaming turd. It really is about the money, viewership and such, as much as those of us that feel it should be about watching the best teams, its really not, it is about getting the greatest number of folks to watch...and as hard as it is to believe, more folks will watch a NY Giant game then a Seahawk game just due to the population density. Kind of sucks for those that want to watch the best teams, but it is what it is.
