I feel like the comment was made after the playoffs ended to which I agreed with cause I believed Seattle was a couple of pieces away from a serious run to the WS. If he's defending his not spending than that has come from ownership and that's ashame.
Tbh I don't know why he doesn't just blame ownership for not allowing him to spend more. Not like they're going to fire him for that.

If the decision comes from him not to spend and the money is available, that's just strategically reprehensible.

Jerry said this offseason and last that Stanton gave him checkbook if the right player comes along. Stanton said he told Dipoto that as well last offseason. I listened to the podcast and heard him say it. Apparently the right deal never came along and never will.
Damn, that's extremely disappointing. Not even attempting to go after vets on a one year deal falls on him then.

Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. On the one hand it makes me think ownership is willing to spend money, on the other hand if Dipoto was telling the truth then it falls on him for not spending.

He can't blame ownership for 2 reasons...1) They pay his salary
2) If he bad mouths the ownership no other team will think of hiring if he's a free agent GM.

If this is his own doing then he gets 1 year for this team to make a serious run in the playoffs. Meaning get to the ALCS cause anything short when just a few pieces was needed is a fireable offense.

the pitching...can carry.them..a bit but...not that much.....if they get scrubs.....i dont think so...but they..dont have to get super stars either....

the guys i have said would do..just normal..ole..guys....

its the differential.....that will matter.....

I was hoping they add a Rodon to replace Marco in the lineup, meaning Marco goes to the pen but I'm guessing Emerson Hancock will get every chance in spring to make the 5 man rotation.

I don't want normal guys. We have that and it works so adding a premiere player like Xander who's still out there helps this line up tremendously.

with a draft class under there belt....ya dont need...super stars....

but you do need...enough guys.......

not scrubs....guys that matter..like santander...and vavra...

its the diferential....that matters....and with good pitching..they can get that

marco to the pen is accually a good thing...for now.....and if they have a pitcher down....then he can start.

hancocks..stock will be up.....look he is a..1st round pick....but he has had troubles ..ok then...wait till this year...

when he does not have troubles......

so there is only..murphee...really to trade...and they dont want to do that....but its bull...pen..much..more easly re-placeable......

right...
