Always knew he would end up a Mariner, but thought as a player.

The Mariners announced that Stephen Vogt has been hired as a bullpen and quality control coach.

Vogt makes the leap directly from playing last season with the Athletics to serving on Mariners' manager Scott Servais's staff in a coaching role. The 38-year-old wrapped up a 10-year playing career a few months ago and has already transitioned to the next phase of his baseball life. Good stuff.

According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, Trevor Story is likely to miss 4-to-6 months after undergoing right elbow surgery.

There is no timetable for Story to return at the moment after undergoing an internal brace procedure on Monday to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. It's a modified procedure from Tommy John elbow reconstructive surgery with a quicker return date, but he's likely to miss significant time to open the 2023 season. It's unclear how Boston's front office will address his absence at this point. There should be some clarity on his status and recovery timeline in the near future. Stay tuned.

Mariners signed 1B/3B Colin Moran to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Moran provides the Mariners with some extra infield depth behind corner infielders Ty France and Eugenio Suárez and will battle this spring in the Cactus League for a spot on Seattle's Opening Day roster as a reserve. The 30-year-old infielder batted .211/.305/.376 with five homers in 128 plate appearances last season for the Pirates. He had launched double-digit homers in four consecutive seasons prior to last year. He's a solid depth addition for Seattle entering the 2023 campaign.
Dont hate this depth signing. He was bad last year but if he reverts to his previous years then hes useful

2021's were almost identical (69 vs 73) in production. Oh the bottom guy is Dylan Moore. We have officially accepted mediocrity...lol.

The 30-year-old infielder batted .211/.305/.376 with five homers in 128 plate..he has to do better than this..for..the mariners ...to..not move on...at the earlyest oppertunity..or go to the minors..for more instruction...

250- 270..would be ok..but the mariners will..tell..him..what..they want him to do..

they do need him to hit rightys just in case...as well...

so..same ole...same..ole....lololo.....yep..

Vogt highlights Seattle's '23 coaching moves

Mariners add 10-year catching veteran as bullpen and quality control coach..

SEATTLE -- The Mariners made marginal moves to their 2023 coaching staff, headlined by a fairly notable name joining manager Scott Servais’ staff.
Stephen Vogt, the two-time All-Star catcher who retired after the 2022 season, was added as the club’s bullpen and quality control coach, taking the role held by Trent Blank, who will move to the dugout as a Major League coach and director of pitching strategy. Vogt, 38, spent most of his 10-year career with Oakland as recently as last season, when he hit an emotional homer in his final at-bat.

I am more or less meh ....

With all this cash hoarding going on, if the Mariners have a win % of .535 or greater post ASB and these clowns ( Mariners front office ) do not aggressively pursue a legit MLB proven veteran offensive player to beef up our club prior to the trade deadline, I for one am gonna be royally pissed.

Problem is they are on record saying they don’t want rentals, so the ASB blockbusters probably won’t happen if they couldn’t swing Reynolds.

One can only hope ... I am optimistic that with their recent success at 'rebuilding' that hopefully they would strongly consider a so called rental or a significant cash signing that would bolster us from wild card hopeful to post season threat.

They have added on a thousand or so luxury sky box home plate suites in an even more luxury than Diamond club seating. I almost choked when I saw the pricing when the Mariners emailed me an invite to buy in. If I recall correctly was something close to $1000 a seat each game. That alone has to pump in a $20mil or so per season
