It looks like we both found out at the same time. lol I'm not sure I understand this trade unless they plan on using Pryor at another position.

I think it's awesome, we lad a very talented QB that fits a lot of the read option looks we use who is an air apparent to Tjack after this season. A major upgrade to BJ Daniels and it's probably a conditional pick so if we cut him loose no big deal.

I could see him being used in some gimmick packages this season but I think the hope will be for him to back up Russell long term.

I don't see this as a QB move as much as I see it as a WR move.

It also keeps the Niners from landing him too should some bad news come down on Colin, I really wouldn't want to see him stepping in and running their offense. I prefer them to be forced to use Gabbert should something happen to Colin.

Raiders send Terrelle Pryor to Seattle | ProFootballTalk

Pryor presumably will remain a quarterback, competing with Tarvaris Jackson for the opportunity to back up Russell Wilson. Jackson’s one-year deal, however, is guaranteed.

From time to time, speculation has arisen than Pryor could play another position. Though he fully intends to remain a quarterback, Pryor would likely be far more successful as a tight end or a receiver than Tebow ever could have been.

Pete will make him earn it though… As of now Jackson is our back-up and he'll have to compete not only for a spot but for his position in the depth chart… Pete means it when he say's open competition..

Just as if Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, etc. gets hurt they are all in trouble. Not even every team has a solid starting QB, let alone the backups of those teams. This is a moot point because it goes without saying for all 32 teams. Just saying'.

I like this move. It accomplishes a # of things:

1) Sends a message to Jackson that: "It's still not yours, bud."
2) Gives us another option at QB (Jackson has been injured)
3) Gives us a player that is similar to Kaep and Newton, who are very much two big QB up and comers in the NFC.
4) Provides us with trade bait later. If he overtakes the #2 and shows some good preseasons, who's to say a team wont Charlie Whitehurst overpay him?
5) A decent prospect with some decent play in Oakland that gives us options should *god forbid* Wilson go down.

Eh dunno. Tarvaris led this team to 7-9 without anything close to a resemblance of what the Hawks are fielding on D now, and the run game is better.

When you have an elite D and great ground game, mediocre QB play can still get you there (01 Ravens). If you're the Pats/Packers right now, then yes - if Rodgers/Brady goes down - you're f'd. Neither have elite Ds and not elite run games.

I have to admit that quarterback never entered my mind in terms of targeted positions for the Seahawks this off-season given that we're already carrying three. I thought we seemed pretty set there, but it's possible that Schneider saw an opportunity to upgrade the 3rd QB spot or to push Jackson for the backup spot and took it. The only other way this trade makes sense at first glance is if Pryor changes positions.

I was more talking about if Pryor is the backup.....Not really Jackson

I could definitely see Pryor going wide receiver.

Guy is like a 4.4 speed with the height/size to do it. This might be a phantom steal by Seattle.

Size/Speed doesn't mean you will be a good WR.....Just look at Darrius Heyward Be for example. I believe he ran a 4.25 in his 40 and he is a crappy WR

As I've said in numerous posts and the one here "This MIGHT" - yes he's got the size/speed to play dominant WR, but there are numerous attributes outside of size/speed that go into WR. Awareness, route running ability, catch ability... route running ability is prob. the most important for any WR, all the size/speed/strength in the world will not help you if you can't run accurate/quick routes.

So yes, it MIGHT be a phantom steal if Seattle can somehow work with Pryor to develop those attributes. Am I counting on it? No.

The best thing for them to do with him is to give him a package similar to what they have for Harvin.

Pryor is not a starter, but his progression to this point suggests that he could be a serviceable, maybe even good backup. IMO at least. The Raiders are on every Sunday up here every Sunday and I have to either watch them or a another damn NFCE game when the Hawks aren't on.
